I wouldn’t hate going to 16. Adding Texas tech to get us into that market. They would come in a heartbeat. Academically I don’t know how they stand, but athletically they are a fun middling team to watch.
Then I don’t know who a 16th would be without poaching someone from the pac or acc. So just stand by voting the huskers out.

The Big 12 is going to be broken up. The BigTen needs to expand its foot print. I would vote for Texas A&M who is opposed to the longhorns going to the SEC. Then I would find a way to get Miami and Georgia Tech. That would give you the Football crazy TV rich states of Texas, Georgia and Florida. Then you can ask Notre Lame one last time or open the last spot to Oklahoma State, TCU or Iowa St.

Cincinnati on line 2.
Love Nippert Stadium, but that would be the smallest stadium in the Big Ten, about ten thousand fewer seats than Dyche Stadium. I don't see Paul Brown Stadium as an alternative for an entire Big 10 season.

The more I think about the choices facing the Big 10 the more I'm thinking "stand pat." I hate the idea of a coastal time zone riddled schedule just as I'm sure USC would never agree to a nooner in Columbus. That doesn't even get into the costs and time of travel or what to do about non-revenue sports.

The only school I think would be worth the effort of talking with is ND, but then we get into religion, NBC, independentism, small private school with little to offer in the way of research and graduate programs and the arrogance to demand more than they're worth or willing to share.

So make the conference's hold on the Midwest a strength. Stop making Indianapolis your prime staging area. Work with Chicago and insist on the rotation of playoff and championship games on a more equitable basis.

I said it in another discussion here when that name was suggested....Two Divisions. The Sherman and Grant divisions. The new conference graphic?

Well, we're right back to where we are - all the eggs in the Big Ten East basket and jelly beans in the West. Much as I admire Uncle Billy, he was second fiddle at 3 stars to Grant's 4, the general to CIC, a fighter for sure, but always answering to Number 1.

That's fine and all, but it is Sherman's March and what it meant to the South that is the point.
