I salute you on buying your kid Purdue clothes. Sometimes, you have to let your kids make their own mistakes. Some people need to learn from their own mistakes. When he grows up, he'll visit for christmas, and he'll open the box with the Ohio State sweatshirt you bought him, and he'll put it on right away. And then you'll all sit around looking at pictures of when he was a kid. And his wife (or maybe just girlfriend) will see him in his Purdue clothes and she'll be amazed that such a big Ohio State fan was once confused. He'll be embarassed, and maybe they'll break up because he can't stand knowing that someone else has seen him in his Purdue outfit. But if they don't break up, you'll know that they were meant to be together forever. And then when he has kids, they'll be Eastern Michigan fans, or something strange like that, and he'll send them to therapy to get them fixed, but then realize that it's just cheaper to buy them their silly Eastern Michigan clothes, and know that they, too, need to make their own mistakes, the way you let him make his own mistakes.
