Please Help - DVD Burning

DMA Warning - Windows XP Support

might help. or Google the rror message for more results

Thanks! I think that this fixed the DMA problem. The MyDVD still isn't working, but I am not getting the DMA error problem anymore.

I use a software app called ConvertXtoDVD. It will decompress any avi or mpeg file to DVD format so it can be played on a DVD player. It will even burn the DVD when the decompression finishes without any additional interaction. Works slick as shit.

I am trying this as I type. It's at 10% converting right now, so it seems to be working (so far).

Thanks to everyone else for their help!

AVI is just a container for audio/video syncing. The actual video payload carried within the AVI is almost always already in Mpeg of Divx formats. :wink2:

If you're already running XP, grab Windows Media Encoder. It's free, and it'll break apart AVIs with less loss, since it can strip the container to the component streams, without (essentially) doing what most people wind up doing, playing Avi-Mpeg and doing a 1:1 conversion into Mpeg. You can also use the Media Encoder to interlace/deinterlace based on what media you've inherited to start with.

Windows Media Encoder

This may be a stupid question, but does this run in Windows Media Player? I downloaded this update, but it said that I already have it installed. However, my WMP doesn't give me the option of burning DVDs (only Audio and Data).

No. You download the binary installer from the link I provided and install separately. It'll create a new program group in your programs menu titled Windows Media. Not sure, but you might need the Windows Movie Maker installed first - I don't remember ... I found this a long time ago. Still use it though.
