The interest level in the Stanley Cup playoffs is a sad statement for the NHL. It's hard to see how Bettman can last much longer as Commissioner.
Here's a thought, though. If Game 1 of the Final would have been played on this Saturday afternoon, a day which has virtually no decent sports progamming (College Lax looks loike the best thing on!), some people might be watching and start caring about the Stanley Cup Final.
But no, they continue the very long layoff until Monday.
The NBA has done the same thing in the past. They place a big importance on advertising for the start date for the Finals. When both Conference Finals series end in 5 games or less, there's a dead period of about a week, which I think is very bad for fan interest.
