I don't normally care for podcasts, but I enjoy our opponents' tears. And I have no problem with Wisconsin (since Bert left, anyway), compared to *ichigan or Penn State. So I'm watching this. I'm about 10 minutes in, and it's not bad.
So, to answer his question, "Why can't Wisconsin ever beat Ohio State?":
The quick and easy answer is that they usually aren't as good as Ohio State. Going back to 2007, Wisconsin has beaten Ohio State once, and lost 12 times.
The only times I can think Wisconsin might have been better were 2011, MAYBE 2010.. and going into the game I thought Wisconsin was going to win 2014. And actually I'd take 2010 off that list.
I understand that Wisconsin is often the big bad bully of the Big Ten West, but the simple fact is that they aren't that big or bad when compared to other teams.
Since 2007, they're 5-4 against Michigan State.
Since 2007, they're 6-4 against *ichigan. (And remember the teams *ichigan has had since 2007.)
Since 2007, they're 1-7 against Penn State.
Since 2007, they're 9-4 against Iowa
Since 2007, they're 13-2 against Minnesota
Since 2007, they're 6-5 against Northwestern
Since 2007, they're 1-12 against Ohio State
Wisconsin makes their living preying off teams worse than them (as any team should). But against teams of equal status, they're about 0.500 (as they should be), and against better teams, Wisconsin just doesn't do as well. And Ohio State is usually better. I mean, in that same time frame, Ohio State has won 8 outright Big Ten Championships out of 16: 2006, 2007, 2009, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020. To look at the 8 years they didn't win the championship outright:
2008, they tied Penn State, but lost to Penn State on the field.
2010, they tied with Michigan State and Wisconsin. They lost to Wisconsin on the field
2011, that was just a bad year.
2012, undefeated, but illegible from post season.
2013, in championship game, but lost
2015, bad game against Michigan State (and Big Ten Champion)
2016, bad game against Penn State (and Big Ten Champion)
2021, big pile of puke of a bad game against fuckheads (and Big Ten Champion)
