Buckeye Beach Bum
official site

Senior Bam Childress was named the Ohio State offensive player of the week by the Buckeyes' coaching staff. Childress caught four passes for 67 yards in the win over Cincinnati. On the defensive side of the ball, junior linebacker Bobby Carpenter was the weekly honoree with nine tackles and a team-best five solo stops. The offensive lineman of the week was junior tightend Ryan Hamby. In addition to his blocking duties, the 6-5, 250-pounder caught four passes for 75 yards and a touchdown against the Bearcats. Senior kick returner Maurice Hall was recognized for his two returns of more than 40 yards (84 total KOR yds.). The big hit of the week went to senior receiver John Hollins and the attack force player of the week went to sophomore defensive tackle Quinn Pitcock. He led all down linemen with seven tackles in his first career start.

Since 1982, 41 OLBs have been drafted in the first round...that is less than 2 per year. 9 ILBs have been drafted in the first round in the same time. I would bet each of those started more than one year...experience is a factor here. Possible team success will enhance his status but he is not a first round pick right now..possible? Sure. Probable? No

Nice research. I hope I am wrong and it is more a statement of how well I feel he will play. By the way you probably pulled your research from here so thought I would post link for all. There was a independent draft history site I went to in the past but of course it is gone.

Still hanging around both but do most of my posting over here. BN does a great job with interviews and such but the quality of discussion has gone down. Seems like the age/intelligence of the posters has gone down.

Can't complain about the staff effort though

Bobby Carpenter is a stud, no doubt about it. But no one is mentioning the Bam Childress honors. Here is a kid that is a 5th year senior finally contributing to the offense and in week one earns player of the week honors. I couldn't be happier for Bam. The guy is mystifying when he has the ball.

Bam

I for one was very excited about Bam, and honestly when he has the ball I stand up every time because he has the best moves I've ever seen for a reciever in college ball. That Kid is quick and just down right nasty in the open field! I hope to see him on some screens! Hopefully zwick won't throw one over his head like he did to Ginn, but Ginn made a hell of a grab only to lose 6 yards. I'm excited about our Recievers guys! Holmes,Hall,Bam, Ginn, Hollins,Lyons! what a group! I definatly think we got the second deepest crew in the big ten.

The key to Bam's game? He caught the football. He has always had that crazy athleticism, but has not caught the football in games that matter. Having him as a third WR is going to scare a lot of nickelback who don't want to get embarassed on TV. This is really good to see.

Bobby C. would have been a good choice, so would have Youboty, Hamby, or D'Andrea. All I thought played very good games.

Hamby had a really nice game, but I agree with the award to Bam. Glad to see him getting some opportunity and making the most of it. He helped JZ get his sea legs with those first half catches, including the td that was called back.
