Defense still wins Championships
Football: OSU linebacker/defensive end Bobby Carpenter has been named the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week by the Football Writers Association of America for his performance against Michigan State. Carpenter has also been added to the Bronco Nagurski Defensive Player of the Year watch list.


Football: Head Coach Jim Tressel announced the players of the week for the Michigan State game at his press luncheon today. Defensive back Ashton Youboty was named both the defensive player of the game as well as the special teams player of the game. Left tackle Doug Datish was tabbed as the offensive player of the game while center Nick Mangold earned the Jim Parker offensive lineman of the week award. A. J. Hawk was named the attack force player of the week, while Donte Whitner earned Jack Tatum big hit of the week award. On the scout team, offensive lineman Tyler Whaley was the offensive scout team player of the week, defensive tackle Todd Denlinger was named the scout team defensive player of the week, and linebacker Austin Spitler was the scout team special teams player of the week.
