High School Player Blocks 4 Punts-State Record

Legend
This story is a little old, about early to mid-season, but i thought you all might find this interesting. Also on the same night in another game, a QB throws for 9 tds.

Player Blocks 4 Punts In One Game

Hardin Northern Wins Last 13 Games

Hamilton Badin's Robert Urmston scored five touchdowns and still got upstaged by teammate Justin Geyer.

Geyer blocked a state-record four punts, had four sacks and scored his first varsity touchdown in a 45-14 win over Cincinnati McNicholas.

"I beat a different guy each time," Geyer said of the blocked punts. "They never double-teamed me. I just had to beat one guy each time and then find the ball."

He had to find it twice on the first block once off the foot of McNicholas' Brett Boehm, then again as the ball bounced low four or five times before hopping high into Geyer's hands for a 24-yard touchdown return.

"It was just a superior effort with a lot of attention to detail," Badin coach Dave Wirth said of Geyer's performance. "Special teams coach (Matt) Baltzer has been working like crazy on that punt block. We've been so close for so long, and tonight the dam broke."

Player Blocks 4 Punts

state record? four blocked punts has got to be some sort of world record or something:biggrin:

I don't know, i have looked before (by way of google) for State records compilied from the whole country. But i can't find one, hell most states don't even have sites that post state football records. Ohio does, i think i have seen a site for texas before. I don't know if this is a national record or not. The only record in the whole the country that i'm absolutely sure of is the record for passing yards in a high school career. Which is held by Ben Mauk of Kenton High School in Ohio, he had over 17,000 passing yards in 4 years.

I would assume 4 blocked punts would have to be up there.

Well damn, they have a link for special teams(Kickoff returns, punt returns, and blocked punts). But they only show records for the kickoff and punt returns. Nothing for the blocked punts.

But I still assume that the 4 blocked punts would have to be up there. But also look at the kid that RETURNED 6 PUNTS FOR A TD IN ONE GAME. By looking at the records on there, I wouldn't be surprised to find out if the blocked punt record is like 8 in one game or something.

Well I ended up finding the blocked punt record, it was under the defense section of the NFLHS.com site.

And like i said before I wouldn't be surprised if the record was 8 in a game... and I was right.
