Playboy Magazine Names Nation's Top Party School

MADISON, Wis. -- Where's the best place for a college kid to party? Right here in the heartland, Playboy magazine says.

The magazine, breaking a four-year hiatus by issuing a list of top party schools, has named the University of Wisconsin-Madison No. 1 in its study of "books, babes and beer."

The issue hitting newsstands Friday cites two annual parties that UW-Madison students love: a Halloween Party that attracts up to 100,000 people and a rowdy spring block party in the heart of campus.

But the magazine also commends the city's vibrant music scene, its enthusiasm for the Badgers sports teams -- and yes, its reputation as a good academic school.

University officials said they weren't thrilled about topping another list for party schools after the Princeton Review named the school its top party school last year.

But "it's good to be known as a place where there's a lot going on for students," said UW-Madison spokesman John Lucas. "It's good they do take into account the academics."

Playboy editorial director Christopher Napolitano said the question the magazine was trying to answer was this: "Where would a guy who wants to live the Playboy lifestyle want to go to school?"

Ummmm, didn't OSU have 7 seperate parties that attracted well over 100,000 people last fall alone? And I don't know, but Hineygate could be considered a fairly rowdy party as well, and it's even near the center of campus.......

Ohio State can't be the top party school because our president doesn't want kids to have fun or let them.

I go here so trust me I know.

I also love getting monthly emails from her bashing student behavior. Not once have I heard something positive out of her mouth.

I understand Madison is a big party town (like there's anything else than get drunk there), just that I thought it was funny what they used as their argument is the same thing that any number of other college towns can claim.

How many college towns can claim a 100,000-person Halloween party?

Wisconsin is deserving of this ranking. I hate to admit it, but compare State Street in Madison to High Street or Lane Avenue is like comparing the Louvre to the Art Pavillion at the Ohio State Fair.

Yeah, how long has OU been milking that Playboy rating they once had for top party school.

Along with having the #1 Club Hockey team in the nation. :slappy:

That's all I ever heard about when I was down there.

I thought we milked the Pre-Season NIT Championship nicely myself, oh yeah... me thinks we blew out Ohio State in that tourney too

But we did get ranked #2 party school by the Princeton Review a few months ago :drunks:

And oh yeah... our club hockey team does kicks ass
