Pittsburgh Pirates (5x WS Champions) Ain't Nutting happenin'

Four game series in Atlanta: ATL 37, PIT 9 :bonk:

Bucs actually won the first game before being outscored 33-3 the final 3 games.

Braves hit 15 homers in the series. Pirates have 30 HRs this season.

Sigh....
Willie Stargell
Robereto Clemente
Bill Mazeroski
Even Dock Ellis on LSD in hair curlers

The Bucs were linked to Columbus through the Columbus Jets, their AAA farm team. Like the city they call home, they were once so much more than they are today. It's too painful to watch now. You must look at the standings midway through the season to see if they avoided last place in the division.

Dock Ellis, LSD and the Greatest Pitching Performance of All-time

The no-no did not come easily however. Ellis was routinely off target, describing himself as barely able to see the batters, really only being able to identify if they were hitting from the left side or the right side. The catcher, to aid Dock in seeing the signs, had to using colored tape on his fingers so that the signals could transmit better to his tripped out battery mate. For the game, Dock had more walks (8) than strikeouts (6) and was aided by some terrific fielding efforts, particularly by second baseman Bill Mazeroski.

So the question is, was Dock’s highest of all-time highs the greatest pitching exhibition in the history of the game, taking into account his full level of physical and mental impairment?

10th straight loss is in the books early today - longest losing streak in 10 years - and the Tribe come to town next.

The pressure is all on Cleveland.

Pirates 11, Indians 10. The losing streak is over. :pirate:

I expect the Tribe to scalp the Bucs the next 2 games.

Before watching Rodriguez yesterday, I had not seen an MLB closer throw nothing but 93-94 mph fastballs and expect to win a game. Dude literally threw the same pitch the whole inning, just threw some in higher locations than others.

Pirates have issues, especially starting pitching, but they've had their top 4 in the batting order together for only 7 games this season. They've now won 6 of those games.

Frazier-Reynolds-Hayes-Moran = 6-1
Any other top 4 = 19-43

Hayes and Moran have missed significant time due to injuries.
