I've seen rain in many different parts of the world but I've never seen what anything like what I saw today in Phoenix. It was coming down in drops, it was one big wall of water. A building about 50 yards away from where I was looking disappeared completely. It only lasted about 20 but it had to be at least 3.0 inches of water. This youtube video doesn't even do it justice.

It wasn't the hail that blew me a way, it was the sheer volume of water falling out of the sky. I'd heard the saying "raining buckets" but I'd never seen it until today. It was literally one continuous sheet of water for about 20 minutes. The streets was flooded over the sidewalk and the water was running like a raging river.
