Scout Profile

Phillip has gathered approximately 40 scholarship offers thus far. He is considering Maryland, Miami, Penn State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Virginia, and Virginia Tech for his official visits. As a Junior, Phillip was credited with 79 tackles, 15 for a loss, six sacks, and seven pass knockdowns from his Defensive Tackle position. He is described as unblockable and boasts a 420 pound bench press. Also, he has a 3.38 GPA with an 890 on the SAT. Phillip is being recruited by Luke Fickell.

Personal Take: tOSU is in the market for Defensive Tackles..especially the gap cloggers like Phillip. At 6'3 and 346 pounds, Phillips reminds me of the Wisconsin nightmare,
Anttaj Hawthorne.

Just saw his profile and was wondering about him thanks for the info. We really do need a big DT since Dekle probably will have to gray-shirt and Nagy may be the only possible DT we are after.

Measurements similar to Gabe Watson?
My first thoughts exactly when I first saw his measurements. It'd be really nice to get him out of MD. Fickell has been doing a fabulous job in Maryland. If we can get Taylor and the MLB (name escapes me) that would be a tremendous coup of of Maryland and, and it may set up for the Bucks to get many more in years to come.

Bowman,Wallace, and Taylor would all be great because they are great players and areas of need. We graduate 3 maybe 4 LB's this year, we only got one DT last year, and we need a big class of DB's to bulk up the depth. Gbadyu would be a great get but I really think we are slipping with him. We are really doing well in Maryland this year.

Taylor's top three are Maryland, Virginia Tech, and Penn State; his second three are Ohio State, Florida, and Tennessee. Phillip made an unofficial visit to Columbus this summer, but was not particularly impressed - he liked his visits to Penn State and Virginia Tech better. Long shot getting longer....

From the BC site...Phillip talks about his interest in BC. He is also looking at Virginia Tech, Maryland, Penn State, Virginia, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Tennessee and a few other unmentioned schools. He talks a little bit about Virginia Tech and his unofficial there. He also talks a bit about OSU, stating that he likes that it is a little ways from home, he likes the location, and the fact we are graduating a few DTs in the nxt few years.

BEEFY!
in this recent update Phillip talked more about tOSU and sounded more interested than he has in the past. wonder if we are turning up the heat. hasn't MD been Fickell's territory this year? if so, chalk up another guy looking at tOSU because of a relationship with Coach Fickell. the guy's amazing with recruiting.

From the Maryland site...Phillip has narrowed his list to Maryland, Penn State and Virginia Tech. He says there are others he is looking at but he does not want to say who. He will most likely decide from among his top 3.

Looks like we are out of the running...closing the thread for now.

'06 MD DT Phillip Taylor...

BSB $

i know his thread has been closed, but according to this article by Mike Wachsman, he will be calling the staff today to set up an official visit. he only has one set up so far, Penn St. on 10/1. Luke Fickell is working his magic again boys... anyone want to bet the staff tells him to come visit with AJ Wallace (and possibly JB Walton) on 9/10?
