Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley suffered a left heel injury in January that sidelined him for the remainder of the 2018 season. That won't keep him from competing for a spot on the 2020 Olympic men's basketball team.

The Memphis guard is one of 35 NBA players invited into the 2018-2020 Olympic pool.

Mike Conley (6’1”-PG-87, graduated ’07, plays in the NBA) could not help the Memphis Grizzlies (18-16) in their last game on Friday. Despite his very good performance the Memphis Grizzlies (18-16) were edged 102-99 on the road by the Sacramento Kings. Conley was the top scorer with 23 points. He also added 7 rebounds and dished 5 assists. It’s Conley’s 12th season with the team. Conley has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 20.3ppg, 3.4rpg, 6.5apg and 1.2spg.

SKULL SESSION: PREDICTING THE NATIONAL TITLE GAME, A LOOK BACK AT THE 2015 CLASS, AND DWAYNE HASKINS COULD GO TOP-FIVE

CONLEY HEADED TO CHARLOTTE. Mike Conley is headed to All-Star weekend after all, just not as an actual All-Star.

The dude is going to go down as one of the most deserving players in history to never make an All-Star game.

At this point though, he's used to it and taking it all in stride.

According to ESPN, Mike Conley Jr had the 9th-highest salary among players in the NBA this past season, at about 30.5 million. I never would have predicted that. Obviously he has had a great career, albeit somewhat quietly, but you have to give him credit for being a true pro, a great guy on and off the court, and doesn't bring the unnecessary drama that some other NBA stars do.
