Gabe Cupps is coming back to his home state.

A Dayton native, Centerville High School graduate and Ohio's Mr. Basketball in 2022, Cupps was the No. 94 overall prospect and No. 3 player from Ohio in the 2023 class, checking in behind Devin Royal (Ohio State) and Dailyn Swain (Xavier). With Cupps committed to Ohio State, he and Royal can recruit Swain to join them in Columbus, as Swain entered the transfer portal on Monday following two seasons at Xavier....

Just sayin': Ohio State has now done pretty good in recruiting Ohio's Mr. Basketball the last 5 years:

2021: Malaki Branham
2022: Gabe Cupps
2023: Devin Royal
2024: Colin White
2025: Marcus Johnson

Just sayin' ... if we're the trees, do we really want to be putting out graphics showing trees being chopped down? Brutus would never!

Depth I guess. Good program kid.

IU isn’t hurt to see him go. Did not look like a Big Ten player when he was on the court. Outsized on offense and defense. Only 2ppg in 21 minutes and then an injured season year 2.

Hopefully he gets healthy, gets stronger and can contribute but I don’t see this being an impact addition.

Yeah, I see him as a Ques Glover replacement.

I haven't followed him much at IU, but I'm excited about this for my own personal reasons. Gabe's dad was one of my teachers and AD for our high school, and is an awesome person that was extremely intelligent and would go out of his way to help students and athletes. I was so bad at math and when I got ready for the ACT, he would take his time off around lunch to help me prepare and I wasn't even in his class anymore.

I don't know Gabe but if he is anything like his dad, he will contribute to the team in some way. I guarantee you he is a smart kid that was raised right, somehow that seems to translate into helping a team.
