He played for a team that competes in that league but only made the squad/participated in 2 games - when they were playing in the much smaller Europe Cup (B squad basically).

He had 14 pts, 12 reb in one game. Then 4 pts, 2 reb the other vs some low level teams.

His most prominent playing time is 49 games in the Argentinian League (2024/25) where he averaged 7 and 3.

Seems like the Buckeye beat is hyping this up but it’s just another body to me.

Prior to Ohio State
  • Spent three years training with the Argentinian National Team and competed in the 2026 AmeriCup and World Cup Qualifiers for his home country
  • At the club level, he played with UCAM Murcia in Spain, playing in the Liga ACB, one of Europe’s top leagues
  • In 2025-26, he played on UCAM’s top team and averaged 18.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game and shooting nearly 60 percent from the floor
  • He played the 2024-25 season with Argentina’s most successful club team, Atenas de Córdoba, he helped lead the team to an appearance in the final four of the South American Basketball Champions League while averaging 7.4 points and 3.5 rebounds in 17.5 minutes per game.
  • At the U19 World Cup in 2023, he averaged 17.1 points and 9.0 rebounds while shooting over 56 percent from the floor in seven games for Argentina

Well then I feel like he catfished our coaching staff and/or the marketing department.

There is nothing out there about him playing against true top Spanish teams (Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, etc).

He was at the club, technically, but not on their top team as it says. Or only appeared in 2 games in a lower competition. His competition was mainly U22 (Liga U).

18.4 ppg would have been 2nd in the actual Liga ACB last year. Those stats have you in the NBA lottery (heck, the 22nd pick averaged like 7 and 4 in Spain).

Again, he looks like a really great mover for his size so I’m happy to have a body. Just trying to temper some expectations. I hope he brings it for the Buckeyes this year.

Oscar Schmidt, yep from Brazil. He actually played in 5 Olympics and still holds the career Olympics scoring record with 1,093 points In 38 games (28.8 avg).

He averaged 42.3 ppg at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul.

Yeah, he was a famous Cuban boxer, he won several Gold Medals in the Olympics back in the 70s. As I recall, there was an effort to get him to fight Muhammad Ali; but for whatever reason it never materialized.

There's cobwebs upstairs, but seem to recollect the announcers saying that by Olympic rules, a solid hit counts just as much as a glancing one. Ergo, while Ali pounded you, Teofelio would land four or five jabs, which would count more than a solid knock to the jaw. Not entirely certain why that stuck with me, but explained your question Script. Also recollect that there was a 'white square' on the boxing glove, and a hit indicated a point or somesuch. Probably had the fastest hands every, also recollect that's why he didn't dominate the HWT boxing circles. Couldn't break an egg (clearly an overstatement), but piled on points.

PS, wasn't Oscar's performance(s) before the three-point shot?

The line came in during his career. His first 2 Olympics didn’t have it, but from 1988 onward the 3-point line existed in the Games.

He became known in the US when the Brazilian team faced a US team of college players at the Pan Am Games in Indy in 1987. His 46 points led Brazil to a comeback 120-115 win In the Gold Medal game. After the USA failed to win the gold at Seoul in 1988, the NBA players were allowed to play in International events.

Not to be confused with 'the Big O' (Oscar Robertson). He who AVERAGED a double double for an entire season. Or was it a triple double? Don't remember, but have always had Oscar as one of top 5 best ever. Doubt that many of BPers even know who he is. UC guy.

He averaged a triple double for a full season.

Recently retired Russell Westbrook matched that accomplishment a few years ago, as has Nikola Jokic more recently.
