GlenOak says a lot about its team in silence
Tuesday, March 20, 2007
By TODD PORTER

PLAIN TWP.

Practice was loose. Short assistant coach Dave Monter provided the highlight of the day when he dunked on a lowered basket inside GlenOak High School's gym.

Freshman guard T.J. Sutton promised the videotape he took of Monter's rim-rocker would make it on YouTube.

Monday was media day for GlenOak's Golden Eagles, the first boys basketball team in school history to make it to the state tournament.

GlenOak senior is player of year

GlenOak senior Kosta Koufos, the 7-foot-2 center who helped the Golden Eagles to 20 consecutive victories and a place in the state's final four this weekend, on Monday was named the player of the year in Division I boys basketball.
. The Ohio State recruit averaged 26 points and nearly 16 rebounds per game for the Golden Eagles, 23-3 heading into Friday's semifinals against Cincinnati St. Xavier.
GlenOak's Jack Greynolds Jr. and Eric Flannery of unbeaten Lakewood St. Edward are the Division I coaches of the year.

GlenOak coach knows how to act to get players to perform
Wednesday, March 21, 2007

REPOSITORY SPORTS WRITER

PLAIN TWP. There is an image they can't get out of their heads. Long before a 20-game winning streak and a cake walk through the regional tournament, the GlenOak High School boys basketball team had a preview at Perry.

This was a glorified preseason scrimmage. During two scrimmages - before a game that counted was played - GlenOak head coach Jack Greynolds burned two images into his players' heads.

Please help

Guys any chance of getting the game in a torrent or downloading it from somewhere. If it is broadcasted on TV could someone Rip it and post it somewhere?

By the way Basketball fans around the world know Ohio quite well.
From the good old Cavs team to players graduated from Ohio and came to Europe.
I still remember watching Brad Doherty make hook shots....

Well another good old player I recall playing in the mens team when I was in the youth of Ampelokipoi was Lawrence Funderburke (left handed very strong) he played against Dominique Wilkins when he was also in Greece.
Another Ohio State grad was also Brad Sellers played in Aris Salonika.

I guess Funderburke played all over Europe, as he played himself into an NBA contract with the Kings after starring in Turkey. Great to hear what a hoops fan you are! As far as web broadcasts...streaming audio is probably the best you'll find.

Jed, If you can find a buddy in Ohio with a slingbox, you might be able to pick it up on a computer in Greece...

Young Eagles take flight

Trio of underclassman guards push GlenOak seniors Koufos, Quinn to new heights

By David Lee Morgan Jr.

Beacon Journal sportswriter

Just last year, Storm Sanders and T.J. Sutton were playing middle-school basketball as eighth-graders. C.J. McCollum was a freshman.
Now the three GlenOak guards are one game away from playing in the Division I state championship at Ohio State's Value City Arena.
The Golden Eagles (23-3) will face Cincinnati St. Xavier (21-5) at 5:15 Friday night in a state semifinal. Sanders, Sutton and McCollum have been key components in helping GlenOak reach the state tournament for the first time.

GlenOak's players renewed their commitment in late December

PLAIN TWP. They put away the basketballs. No one talked strategy or made game plans.

After a month of mediocrity by his GlenOak High School boys basketball team, head coach Jack Greynolds Jr. had seen enough. He'd also heard more than enough about this team being on its way to Columbus come March.

He knew he must deliver a message before a promising season slipped away.

"I lectured them," Greynolds said. "I started cracking down on every little thing to try to get us refocused. We did a lot of running, a lot of running up and down bleachers, just to kind of get our minds back to where they needed to be."
