Uh, did you miss the part about the extra $5M per year for 4-5 years? I'd move to the North fucking Pole for 5 years for an extra $5M a year...
uh did you miss the part where YOU ARE A GOD. you really need an extra 5 mill when you are already making 2.5, with the easiest/most fun job in the entire country?

Tel you what, if I had the choice between $2.5M per year and $7.5M per year, I could definitely put up with the egos, pressure, and cut-throat bosses for the extra $5M per annum...no doubt.
You could do that, hell maybe I could once. (Talking in relative terms there - not in the million buck club).
I just have the feeling that for PC money isn't everything.
If you aren't having fun in your job more money is not an effective compensation.
PC has publicly said he did not have as much fun -- and in fact had his fair share of pain in his prior gigs at the pro level.

I agree. If he was going from 2.5M to 3M. That might not do it.
But from 2.5M to 5-6M that's a little different.

From Yahoo:
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -- The San Francisco 49ers received permission from New England on Thursday to interview Patriots defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel for their coaching vacancy.

One day after firing Dennis Erickson, the 49ers set out to find his replacement. Crennel will be the first candidate to interview for the job when he meets with team officials Saturday. Crennel also is scheduled to interview with Cleveland on Friday.

Owner John York said Wednesday -- when he also dismissed general manager Terry Donahue -- that his first priority is hiring a coach.

Crennel also won two Super Bowls as an assistant for Bill Parcells with the New York Giants.

Interviewing Crennel, who is black, satisfies an NFL rule that requires teams to interview at least one minority candidate for coaching vacancies.

York hinted Wednesday that he was interested in Southern California coach Pete Carroll, who won his second straight college championship this week. Carroll said Thursday that he has no interest in the job. ``I have not been contacted, I don't expect to be contacted, and I'm not interested,'' Carroll said.

Thad Matta was absolutely, positively happy where he was and had no interest whatsoever in moving on, IIRC. But then it happened.

Just because Petey says he's not interested doesn't mean he isn't. Petey's been known to fib a little from time to time.

Word here in DC among NFL insiders -- which may not be worth much since we're on the right coast, not the left -- is that the 49ers really want Petey bad, for fan credibility and attendance as much as anything. They're interviewing others, but are putting together a monster offer for him. One they hope he can't refuse.

Let's see how loyal he is to the fine young boys of Troy when he's presented an opportunity to move back home to Marin County and earn a guaranteed $5.5 million a year for the next seven years.

Personally I hope he takes it, because I think he'll fail again. IMHO, he's a great recruiter of teenage boys, not a great coach of professional athletes.
