My swing feels like an unfolding lawn chair.
My buddy and I were talking about how well teams shot from behind the arc against tOSU during the tourney and I decided to do a little research. This isn't a knock against the Bucks, but it definitely raises a question. The first number is what they shot from 3 against us, and the second is the season average.

CCSU .385 .381
X .348 .390
TEN .516 .365
MEM .455 .351
GT .333 .370
FLA .556 .404

Notice that 3 teams shot over 10% better against us than they did on the season. Maybe it's just bad luck. Like I said above I'm not offering an opinion either way, just presenting the stats.

It has been this way all season...I would love to have an answer for this and at times, teams are getting open looks, but you expect open looks every game for teams, but it is when they are knocking them down coming off screens with hands in their faces that just make you think eventually what goes around will come around...

If I were the coach I would have started Harris, being 6'7 on Humpries, shifted Hunter into the starting lineup to guard brewer and taken Butler out of the lineup.
Hunter struggled down low with Horford's size (huge back downs). Butler had an unusually off game defensively, and I don't think Donovan thought Butler would lose track of Lee that often. As for assigning a Humphrey shadow, I think Lighty would have been a good option.

Forget perimeter defense...it was our perimeter offense that killed us tonight. How can you expect to beat the defending national champions--with their very same five starters--when you shoot 3-24 from behind the arch? Think about 3-24 people...that's one of every eight shots, or and anemic 12.5%. If we even shoot 25% (6-24), it's overtime.

yes, this game was all about our team's very poor (!) 3-point shooting. nothing else. forget how florida shot from behind the arc. it's not as though their looks were that much better than the looks that butler, lewis, and harris had. that the team was even in the game speaks to how well pretty much everything else was working. if the perimeter defense had been bolstered, it would have likely come at the expense of losing oden.

ohio state was 4-of-23 from behind the arc. that is the stat of the game.

Yes but 2 of those came in garbage time.
heck, we could give them two more for 6-of-23, and it's still terrible. a missed 3-point shot is more than just 3 fewer points. it's much more difficult grab rebounds for quick put-backs, which are the potatoes on greg's plate. when a team misses a 3-point shot while playing florida, the impact is that much greater than it would be while facing most other teams. florida is a transition team. missed shots from distance start the break much quicker than missed bunnies. if there was one blunder on matta's part last night, it was that he apparently did not stress before the game that his team can beat florida off the dribble. few teams can get into an outside shooting match with florida and come away victorious, especially in a dome. conley, lewis, butler, lighty, cook, and even harris should have been taking florida off the dribble all night.

I agree with all that the poor shooting was our demise. "Live by the three/Die by the three". It also didn't help that we just didn't have any damn luck last night, and everyone will tell you that you need some luck to beat a team like Florida and win a championship. How many shots did Oden block or alter only to have it bounce right to a UF player...particularly the one that was kicked back out for that three. That was the exact moment I knew we could not win the game. It can be incredibly deflating to a team when you feel as though you made a stop and may sense that the momentum is beginning to shift, only to see another three points added to the lead. To our guys credit though, they continued to hustle and play their asses off until the end. UF simply would not let us back in the game, and they deserve all the credit in the world for that. Even when we closed it to six late and appeared to be on the verge of one of our runs, they go right back down the floor and drop another three on us. In retrospect, I wish we would have pounded it out more, but sometimes all you need is for one of those bastards to go in and the floodgates open. Just didn't happen tonight.
