I have heard from a few sources that a couple of the Penn State players and their parents have formed a little group that wants paterno out. they say if he isnt gone their kid is transferring. one of the names is anthony morelli. anybody else hear anything like this?

PSU won't ever fire him...ever. However, I think they'll ask him to retire after this season.

Rashmish, you'll be lucky to even be alive at 78, let alone be able to walk the sidelines in the Big Ten as one of the greatest coaches ever. Fuckwad.

Eh, walking is about all Paterno is doing as his piece of shit brain went to jelly about 4 years ago.

it is being said that joepa and his family had a "sitdown" after the buckeye game this weekend to discuss the future....

it appears it is only a matter of when he chooses to leave....now...or after the season...

the real dynamic here is that there are two 'PRIME" schools playing for the same young coach.....

urban meyer is both in a nightmare and a dream......

Morelli is pissed he isn't playing, but that's nothing new. There is some talk about Paterno announcing his retirement this week, because there are a lot of potential recruits attending this week's game, and maybe he feels his best shot at getting them to go there is to announce now, rather than at the end of the season.

Bottom line is, Joe is defeated. He used to inject humor, temper, and life into press conferences even when they lost. The last few have been "I have no idea why we're bad." and "I'm tired of losing" combined with a dejected look on his face, and staring down into the ground. He is realizing he has just run out of answers. I think this is it for him, and it is very sad for me to see it end like this, but he could have retired after 2002 (and if so, they would have won that goddam bowl game).

I think he'll wait until the end of the season, or maybe before the final game of the season, but I wouldn't ne surprised if it happened tomorrow at his PC either.

Urban Meyer or Petrino (the guy from Louisville...can't spell it) at Penn State is a dangerous combination. Their facilities and fan base are as good as anywhere. They'll be back...soon.

if urban meyer has the choice between penn state and florida.....i dont know how in his right mind he can choose penn state.

florida has better recruiting
he would be replacing a bum in florida, a legend in psu

plus he would have all that florida speed around him

True Nation, but everyone is EXPECTING the next coach at Florida to turn it around quickly...everyone at Penn State is HOPING the next coach can turn it around. One thing Joe has done....is made it a hell of a lot easier to follow him. No one will be screaming for Joe to come back like they will be Spurrier.

nation27....

plus...florida's new a.d. hired urban at utah.....major, major, major factor....if the a.d. thought he was great two years ago....imagine the name the a.d can make now.....??

also he would be the hero...instead of replacing the hero as you pointed out...

there is no reason why meyer shouldnt be the next coach at florida.....

Well, at least Joe Pa was able to reach double-digits in points scored at The Shoe in Big Ten play...barely. In the previous five conference games in Columbus, they scored 6, 7, 9, 6, and 7 points. Actually, they should've missed their extra point to keep the 3-year 6, 7, 9 point pattern alive. In the six conference games at our house, we've outscored them 169-45 (28.2-7.5). I'm sure Joe Pa took his last walk across our field Saturday...
