Just sayin': So far Penn State only has 2 players in their 2026 recruiting class and with all those players out of eligibility, declaring for the NFL draft, and/or transferring; you really have to wonder how competitive that they will be in 2026.

Penn State, Matt Campbell Given Update on Rocco Becht Transfer

Head coach Matt Campbell of the Iowa State Cyclones celebrates with quarterback Rocco Becht #3 of the Iowa State Cyclones after Becht scored a touchdown in the second half of play against the Arizona Wildcats at Jack Trice Stadium on September 27, 2025, in Ames, Iowa. The Iowa State Cyclones won 39-14 over the Arizona Wildcats

Penn State Nittany Lions head coach Matt Campbell is still building out his roster for the upcoming season, and some of his former Iowa State players could be joining him soon.

Campbell's former quarterback, Rocco Becht, has decided to enter the transfer portal, a move that came as a bit of a surprise given that he spent his entire college career with the Cyclones.

Becht was a redshirt during his freshman year, though he has been the starter over the past three years, during which he has won 26 games as the lead signal caller.

He will be entering his redshirt senior campaign, and given his experience in the Big 12, the quarterback projects to have a robust market, with teams that would kill for a proven commodity amid the uncertainty that this the position play can bring.

Still, Becht and Penn State seem like a match made in heaven — the player will get a notable payday to play under his longtime coach and a massive college program.

Just sayin':
1. Maybe Grunkemeyer is worried that Campbell might want "his guy" to be QB1 at Penn State.
1. Maybe Grunkemeyer thinks Iowa State QB Rocco Becht (who is in transfer portal) is planning on transferring to Penn State.

Agree to disagree.
I agreed with you that Cignetti had access to less talent than Campbell theoretically will have and that Cignetti did more with less talent because of good coordinators.

Does Campbell have access to good coordinators? That would be the natural progression of this conversation over agreeing to disagree with someone who agreed with you.
