Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Penn State was bullshitting their way to national relevance with an independent schedule up until they joined the Big Ten where they have been relegated to second tier for the last three decades. I think it’s in everyone’s best interest to continue keeping them down rather than have them run to easier paths to relevance again, despite them being such an awful fanbase as a whole.

Cool promotion...I think the crowd noise did cause a couple delay of game calls; however, I don't think there were 5 false starts even though Cade Stover did have at least 2 (i.e. nobody is getting any free chicken nuggets).

Over half of their noise comes from crowd noise being pumped through the PA system.

Should illegal if you ask me.

Artificial crowd noise, by conference policy or mutual consent of the institutions, is allowed. The noise level must be consistent throughout the game for both teams. However, all current rules remain in effect dealing with bands, music and other sounds. When the snap is imminent, the band/music must stop playing. As with all administrative rules, the referee may stop the game and direct game management to adjust.

Above is the NCAA rule ; surprised to see the NCAA actually allows "artificial crowd noise". Not sure what the B1G policy is on "artificial crowd noise"; however, I do they they had a special rule and allowed it during the COVID season.

Big Ten football stadiums will be as quiet as a vacuum cleaner this fall
Fake crowd noise is coming to the Big Ten.
With the general public denied access to football games as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Big Ten is providing schools with “crowd noise ‘murmur’ audio tracks,” per a release from Ohio State.

OK, I get that you hate anyone who is not your team. It's part of the package of being a fan, but Penn State has played the Buckeyes harder/better than any other team in the conference over the past 30 years. Having said that, I'll go to Stassen and see if it holds up, or is just my perception.

ANSWER: Not exactly - 1993 to 2021 OSU V MICH - 19 - 9 .679
1993 to 2021 OSU v PSU - 21 - 8 . 702, update 22 - 8

I'm pretty sure Purdue and Wisconsin have better records against Ohio State since 1993. Maybe not Wisconsin, but definitely Purdue.

I don’t know what you think I was saying, but Penn State has won two and split two conference championships since joining the Big Ten 29 years ago. That’s second tier and it has been a group effort keeping them down, go Big Ten.

In the same time:

Ohio State 14
Michigan 6
Wisconsin 6
Penn State 4
Michigan State 3
Northwestern 3
Iowa 2
Illinois 1
Purdue 1

Let’s compare B1G Championships to Coach of the Year Awards over that 29-year period.

Team..Titles..COYs

tOSU...14..1..Day
..TTUN..6..1..Hoke
..Wisc..6..5..Alvarez(2), Bielema, Chryst(2)
PennSt..4..5..Paterno(3), O’Brien, Franklin
Sparty..3..4..John L. Smith, Dantonio(2), Tucker
NW’ern..3..4..Barnett(2), Walker, Fitzgerald
..Iowa..2..4..Ferentz(4)
Illini..1..2..Ron Turner, Zook
Purdue..1..1..Tiller
..Minn..0..3..Mason, Kill, Fleck
..Indy..0..1..Allen

The 3 most recent additions, Maryland, Rutgers, and Nebraska, have yet to achieve either.
