Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Well if you go back to 2012 years MSU is 2-6 against OSU. Which quite frankly is by far the best out of any team in the B10. Considering OSU has a total of 10 losses in that span and only 5 are in the B10 and 3 are to Clemson. But if you are talking consistently good games then yes the "Cult" brings it. Looking at those numbers it is obviously the biggest problem is Clemson.

Going back to 2001, Purdue has a better record against Ohio State than any other Big Ten team. And they're at 0.333 (4-8). Penn State is 0.263 (5-14). Wisconsin and Iowa are each 0.250 (4-12 and 2-6). Michigan State is 0.200 (3-12). And that's all the Big Ten teams at or above 0.200. (No, M*ch*gan, I didn't forget about you. I just didn't include you.)

This piqued my curiosity. Ohio State has lost 24 conference games in 20 years. The only (P5) team close to that is Oklahoma, who's lost 30. Alabama is at 41. TTUN has 56, PSU has 61.

According to Stassen site, OSU in conference record from 1999-2019 is 145-32. (tsun has managed 60 conference losses in that period. Rutgers has lost 33 B1G games in the past 4 years.)

Some fun stuff that jumps out:

Of those 32 losses
John F Cooper had 8 in 2 years
Tressel had 14 in 10 years
Fickell had 5 in 1 year
Urban had 5 in 7 years
Day has 0 in 1 year

1999, 2004 and 2001 teams combined for 14 of the 32 losses (44%)

15 of those 20 years OSU lost 0 or 1 game.

You're right, I accidentally did 19 seasons, 2001-2019. 1999-2019 is 21 seasons. For 20 seasons (2000-2019) Ohio States is 142-27. Oklahoma is still at 30 losses. Alabama is 46. Michigan is 58 and Penn State is 65. Taking out 1999 pulls 5 losses off Coop's record.

2000, 2001, 2004, and 2011 combined for 15 of the 27 losses (56%).

Hooray! The Texans fired the guy who left us hanging!!!

I normally don’t relish when people lose their jobs but he is fine financially. I never understood what this guy did besides yell at Tom Brady. Only a first class moron on the level of Chip Kelly and Billy would trade away the most important assets to your QB.
You went back as far as Brady, so I'm assuming your including his stint as our head coach. Stabilizing a Big Ten program and maintaining a winning record when the program was given the next thing to the death penalty didn't impress you at all?
Using Gerald Hodges as a punt returner that fumbled away the ball in the loss to Ohio did not impress me. That 2012 team, even with the adversity they faced, was likely two games better than their actual final record. Mauti and Zordich did as much or more to stabilize the program while O'Brien was figuring things out at the college level.

I had forgotten about that 2012 game against Ohio U. So I went back and found it in the Youtubes:

Typical Penn State fan - he's blaming that loss on the coach who put some guy back there to return punts, who fumbled the ball. By the way, he fumbled when Penn State was up 7-0 in the 2nd quarter, and Penn State only gave up 3 on that possession. Penn State would later block a punt and turn that into 7 to take a 14-3 halftime lead. The second half was all Ohio, as Ohio outscored Penn State 21-0 in the second half, to win 24-14. From the highlights on that video I can't tell if it's bad playcalling or Ohio just dominating. But I see some bad angles by defensive players, wide open receivers, and bad passes by McGloin. Maybe it was bad coaching that put them in that position, but to blame it on the decision to put that player back to return the punt early in the 2nd quarter reminds me a lot of Penn State's loss to Ohio State the next year, when they blamed it on the officials' failure to flag an Ohio State offensive lineman for a blindside block on third down, when Ohio State didn't even convert the first down on that play.
