Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Nope.

The only crap that happened that day was a crappy decision. When it's 3rd-and-1 and you're leading the game and it's a defensive battle and there's only 11:00 left to play and you're already at mid-field, just take the snap and sneak it and get the first down and keep the drive alive and the clock moving. Don't try to play the hero and cut it outside.
Eh. He wins the game if that guy doesn't luckily punch the ball out. Playmakers want to make plays.

Just helping your memory out (though I suspected you knew already).

2006 was the year you were looking for --- Malcolm Jenkins and Antonio Smith, back-to-back Buckeye TDs on back-to-back drives started by Penn State. I remember their names without looking it up. I remember all 22 OSU/PSU games in the B1G era.

Jenkins dropped the ball before crossing the goal line. Refs gave OSU the game!

I was talking about the Ped State game in 2005.

I know.

Point I was making in a backhanded sort of way was the Ped State faithful look at that game in 2005 as one the bright spots of their programs achievement

We look at 2005 as losing an epic game to Texas but beating scUM and ND to end the year.

Fair enough, different perspective on whether that was a situation worth chancing "risk vs. reward." If you go for the "reward", you do also increase the likelihood of "luck" making an appearance.

One thing I just remembered: PSU QB Darryl Clark had gotten hurt on the prior possession. Furthering the case that PSU's offense was unlikely to do much --- unless they were given some help.

You know what's fun about being a Buckeye? We don't have to dwell on shit like this for decades because we've had plenty of prior and subsequent successes to distract us.

Penn State has hilariously been less fortunate.

When you finish the season ranked #3, and included on your resume is a win over the team that ended the season ranked #4, you've had a pretty damn good season.

Yes, Penn State needs to have MANY more of those seasons to have a program that has accomplishments on the level of Ohio State football. We have not been anywhere close to as good as Ohio State has been over the last 10 years. That's inarguable.

FWIW, teams over the 2005-2014 era who have (a) finished the season ranked in the Top 4, and (b) have victories over teams that also ended the season ranked in the Top 4:

2014: #1 Ohio State (wins over #2 Oregon and #4 Alabama)
2013: #1 Florida State (win over #2 Auburn)
2012: #1 Alabama (win over #4 Notre Dame)
2011: #1 Alabama (win over #2 LSU)
2011: #2 LSU (wins over #1 Alabama and #4 Oregon)
2010: #1 Auburn (win over #3 Oregon)
2010: #3 Oregon (win over #4 Stanford)
2009: #1 Alabama (wins over #2 Texas and #3 Florida)
2006: #1 Florida (wins over #2 Ohio State and #3 LSU)
2005: #1 Texas (wins over #2 USC and #4 Ohio State)
2005: #3 Penn State (win over #4 Ohio State)

What am I "dwelling" on? I made my point, he made his, we just disagree. Fair enough. I'm done on that topic.

There's plenty of "fun" about being a Nittany Lion fan. I was in Columbus in October 2013. We lost a football game by the rather unfortunate score of 63-14. I stayed to the very end, and I had plenty of fun that day. Lots of great Buckeye fans there. I wasn't called a "child rapist" or anything even close to that (I've been to 17 non-State College games since November 2011 --- including Columbus twice --- and that did occur once, in Wisconsin in 2013). It's just a game and any day where I can be on a college campus and watch college football game live is a pretty darn good day.

Theres no fun in being unfortunate enough to be born into the body of a Penn State fan.

SURE there is "fun" .... go reference my first post ever in this thread (and on this board)! I only created a moniker here on BuckeyePlanet to talk about how I had created the moniker "409fold" on BWI, for the sole purpose of harassing and making fun of that idiot "9fold."

On that note, I am seriously beginning to wonder if 9fold is dead. No posts for 2 months now. I think it's possible that his head literally self-combusted.

Anyway, I'm planning to be in Columbus in 102 days and regardless of what the scoreboard says, I'm planning on having fun. Regardless of whether you like me having fun or not.
