Penn State 38, Illinois 24 (Final)

To txp: In my mind, I put it this way.

Every team plays a conference schedule and 4 OOC games. The conference schedule is obviously hard so you don't want a killer OOC schedule. But all the same, it's important to have at least a decent OOC schedule within those 4 games to prove that you can win outside of your conference, especially if your conference sucks, since you never know when your conference will be down.

Thus, when we say someone's OOC schedule is "full of patsies" we're saying that their OOC schedule is overall very week. I.e., 4 patsies.

Our OOC schedule was YSU, Ohio, Troy, and USC. Of those, YSU and Ohio are mostly a joke, Troy is almost semi-respectable, and USC is an incredibly impressive OOC opponent. Any denying that is just asinine; USC is loaded with talent. And you can make any argument like "they're just 2-1", but you can't PURELY evaluate someone on W-L record, especially this early. USC is clearly an incredibly impressive team, and all you have to do is look at proven coaches and proven talent.

Even if you classify Troy as a joke (which you really can't, they've had some impressive games in the past few years), our OOC schedule is STILL 3 pansies + 1 USC. That makes it overall impressive.

Likewise, an impressive record would be something like Oregon State + Vandy + Troy + Western Carolina. 3 decent teams (and this year, with as good as Vandy is... or at least appears to be... this would actually be quite a tough schedule) and a joke. That would be decent.

Schedule 3 patsies and 1 decent team, and that's fine, but don't talk to us about schedule strength when we go to the Coliseum.

So, other than hatred, ignorance. We now can add hypocrisy and elementary reading comprehension to the list. Yes, we better move past this, but there's no guarantee that it won't stress your 5th grade level reading.

Keep in mind that you're a guest here.

You've been walking a fine line between discussion and trolling.

Stop the name-calling and the insults, now, or you'll lose your posting privileges here. Period.

Don't bother telling me that's not fair - this is a Buckeye site, and that the way the Admins want things around here. So spare me the free speech argument, and spare us all the martyrdom crap - we've seen it a hundred times before, and it won't fly here.

Personally, I think that the entire Big Ten needs to cut down on the carbs and get rid of the cupcakes, including these two teams. That said, Ohio State has played a tougher schedule, according to these two power ratings.

Sagarin SOS power ranking (smaller is tougher) and then power ranking for opponents

Ohio State (52nd toughest)
Youngstown State (159) Ohio (131) Troy (56) Minnesota (33) USC (3)

Penn State (117th toughest)
Coastal Carolina (157) Syracuse (130) Temple (80) Illinois (61) Oregon State (23)

Marsee SOS power rating (larger is tougher) and then power ranking for opponents

Ohio State (449 points)
Youngstown State (NR ) Ohio (90) Troy (71) Minnesota (42) USC (6)

Penn State (396 points)
Coastal Carolina (NR) Syracuse (110) Temple (80) Illinois (38) Oregon State (30)
