Penn State 36, Indiana 31 (final)

they barely beat Indiana? I think saying they're looking better and better is a bit of a stretch?? Remember this is a Indiana team that got ROLLED by MSU.

PSU- Their running game will struggle against us, it's going to be up to Morelli to win the game for PSU and I don't like their odds on that. If Indiana can put up that much yards/points against that defense then I think they've regressed a bit on defense.

These two opinions just about the sum up how I feel about the Nitts showing in this game.

Best road performance thus far, by far.

Against a 68th ranked Defense.

Giving up one less yard than they gained - when facing a 46th (middle of pack) Offense.

I'm pretty sure this will be spun to the point of Pretzel Logic in support of the position that Penn State is getting healthy on both sides of ball at the right time.

But, one big unanswered question still looms --

-- Penn State's D at home is better than on the road, but they haven't faced the type of big plays that the Buckeyes can bring.

-- Penn State's Offense looked better today, but they will face, next week, for the first time this season, a faster, stronger Defense than they ever might see in practice.

So it still comes down to this - will Ohio State's D affect their Offense more than their D limits the Ohio State Offense?

At this point I'm inclined to believe the answer to that question is in favor of the Buckeyes.

Agree 100%.

Get off to a good start and we'l be fine.

As far as a possible gameplan? IU and UI both put 300+ yds and 30ish points on PSU's defense. I'd say spread them out and pass to set up the run. We only need 17-21 points.

Defensively, get pressure early on AM don't let him get comfortable and let his $.05 head start to do its thing for us. As always they will take away the run and make PSU one dimensional. I'll take my chances that AM can't beat us although the history of our games in HV is that some total schmuck QB has a career game vs us. Bad news for PSU is I think he shot his career game wad vs UW a couple weeks back.

I know PSU will play better at home but don't forget the way their coaches go into an ultra conservative shell offensively vs good teams. This is also something to keep in mind should disaster strike and PSU get off to an early lead. PSU will sit on it and get conservative, we will have a very good chance to come back.

All in all I have a good vibe for this one and thats with giving PSU full credit for the impressive home field advantge they enjoy.

Our cover guys are too good. Morelli doesn't need to make mistakes -- he just needs to try and throw near Jenkins. We should also see some coverage sacks this week. Penn State has zero chance of getting anywhere running the ball, so I feel really good about that side of the equation.

Repeated punts and three-n-outs take the starch right out of a liquored up night crowd, so hopefully they'll be lulled to sleep by halftime. A replay of the Purdue game is fine with me.

As far as our O and their D, I'd just like to see a methodical, mistake-free performance. Long drives, strong runs from #28, key completions to sure-handed receivers...just solid execution. Big plays are great, but we don't need that. We can move the ball regularly on Penn State as long as we get good pass protection and some holes to run through. Win the field position battle and time of possession and bring home the W. We should see 100% pure Tresselball this week.

I wouldn't have posted here (plenty of PSU-OSU conversation in the game thread), but I cannot wrap my mind around this statement.

How is throwing near Jenkins NOT a mistake???
