Chuck said that if there were really 11 good teams in the Big East, UCONN wouldn't have been able to survive five games in the conference tourney. Lavin just basically said he wasn't surprised that Chuck would take a contrarian position and be vocal about it, because that's what he does.

Chuck was ripping the Big East saying "how can the conference be that good if it allows UCONN to win 5 games in five days?"...Lavin basically said he thinks it speaks more to the conferences depth than anything else. Pointed out how St. Johns has beat 4 teams that are likely to be #1 or #2 seeds this season. I tend to agree with Lavin, I don't think they have any "great" teams, but the depth of that conference top-to-bottom is pretty outstanding.

Pretty obvious at this point that's he's been brought in to say something witty. No way does he have the time/knowledge to cover both the NBA and NCAA. Can already tell most won't agree with what he says, but it may pay off with the occasional quip.
