Considering doing a transaction with these folks. Am I looking to get myself burned?

What type of transaction are you doing with paypal? or rather, are you sending money to someone else using PayPal? I've used paypal countless times and have never had a problem, what is it you are concerned about or are you just overly paranoid? :sneaky:

I've used them thousands of times, no problems. Although the only thing I heard is that if you have a lot of money in your account it isn't always fast to get it taken out. They want to make that interest on it...

Ive used PayPal for years. I use it for single payment transactions. I have it backed up by my bank acct but I do not store money in PayPal. I have never had a bad transaction or any fraudulent activity with it. There are many "phishing" emails that come around that try to get PayPal acct info but there is a section on paypal where you can be aware of what those look like. Basically, Paypal will never send an email asking for acct "update" that requires you to enter your acct info and passwords so general caution regarding that is enough to avoid problems.

Here is their security help center link.

I've used in many times without a problem. The only issue I had was PayPal alerted me that someone in London was trying to access my account. PayPal asked me if this was legitimate. If not, they recommended I change my password. I changed the password and never saw any repurcussions. I was kind of impressed that they caught the problem before anything happened.

I've used it a few times on ebay purchases and had no problems.

However, be aware; there are scam artists that may try to steal your account numbers, etc. They send out random emails that look like they came from PayPal saying that this is a "security check". You should click on their link (it looks like a PayPal link but it is not) and log into PayPal to verify your account, etc. I have gotten a few of these emails. Here are articles on the scam:
