Paul Dana dead after IRL wreck

Yes, I know the premise, but it seems there are more deaths in open wheel than other types of racing. I don't follow it as much anymore, so maybe I'm wrong, and maybe the injuries (like the guy who lost his legs) are just more sensational, but happen with no difference in frequency.

There was a few years there where it seemed NASCAR guys were getting killed more. Petty, Earnhardt, etc.. This is the first open wheel death I can think of in a while (Admittedly, I don't follow it near as close as I did back in the late 80 and early 90's... )

It's a testament to those cars that the guy who got t-boned had no broken bones. Somebody had to have screwed up for there to have been an accident and Dana was still going full go around the track. Either he missed the yellow flags or someone in his crew didn't warn him.
