If you haven't heard of this, it's a pretty ridiculous situation. Patrice Cormier is a young NHL prospect for the New Jersey Devils. I've heard that he's had a history of dirty play. He took it to a new level recently.. here's the video below. It's rather graphic, and the injured player nearly died. They categorized the victim's brain injury between severe concussion and brain death, I believe is what I read. So, you've been warned.. Cormier is pretty obviously looking to injure someone as he leaves the bench. He connects with a flying elbow to the head of Mikael Tam.

I read a quote somewhere that seemed to indicate that Cormier had a smile on his face after the hit. I'm pretty sure this kid was the captain of the Canadian junior team this year, too. Good leader.
Anyways, he's appealing his season suspension. If he has a history of dirty play, and he almost ended a kid's life, he should be happy to ever play again. I don't think he should no matter how old he is. But he's legally an adult (18).

Just thought this should get more attention than it has. There have been a lot of classless hits in the NHL lately. This is one of the worst intentional hits I've ever seen.

I respect the decision of the QMJHL even if I find it too severe. I deeply regret the circumstances surrounding this event and I wish Mikael Tam a speedy and full recovery.
