Paris Hilton's Burger Ad

I usually do not watch TV and and am not what anyone would call uptight.
On the other hand I have two young daughters that I would probably prefer not see this type of ad. I know if my six year old sees it she is going to have a lot of questions. Why is she dressed that way? Why is she rolling around on the car? Why is she on her knees? Questions about certain issues that will have to be addressed some day I am sure.

You are correct that the US has a more puritan view of the body and sex but there is another thread here where an English mother let her 11 year old have sex and she got pregnant. Hard to explain how an 11 year old knew enough about sex but not enough about birth control or responsibility. The parent is a loser no doubt.

I think kids should be kids as long as they can, which is about half as long as we were when I grew up.

Has anyone seen the balck & white ad by GE that has a bunch of young hardbodies? It is talking about making coal beautiful as they have reduced emmission equipment capable of this. I thought that ad was a stretch for corporate America.

We Americans are so scared of the human body is hilarious.

I wont argue we have a hang up with nudity, but I also think there is a distinction between nudity and sexuality and we are a bit confused about that as well. (Witness 5 years olds wearing makeup and tight skirts.)

The Hilton video is about sexuality - not nudity.

I don't see a problem with it being played during primetime tv.

About a year ago pamela anderson did the same thing for Sirrus radio. For some reason it wasn't a big deal then. And how about all of those enzite commercials? I guess my point is there are commercials that are just as racy but don't get scrutinized as much.

This commercial is similar to about half of the videos they have on MTV. Just because it's a commercial, people get excited.

Paris Hilton has a genius for a publicist. I had never heard of her a couple of years ago. Then she gets seen with Brian Uhlacher, has a notorious porn video circulated on the web, gets her own stupid reality show, and she's famous. By the way, I've never seen her porn video or her stupid TV show.

Other commercials bother me more. The Enzyte ones are just stupid. But I have to admit not being comfortable watching TV with my teenage daughter when Cialis & Viagra warn you about those potential 4-hour erections. Those warnings are more about marketing (wow, you could be a stud for hours!) than health concerns.

And no, I haven't had the need for any of those products.

I think it has to do with when the commercial is aired. There are a few parents out there who still try to regulate what their kids watch. If they aren't allowed to watch MTV they don't see those videos. But hamburger joints tend to market kids in order to influence families. I think a parent has a solid argument if they want commercials to reflect the same standards that are reflected in the programs those commercials sponsor.

Isn't Enzyte the smiling idiot ad -- for the "natural" solution to male sexual dysfunction?

Recently there was a story that the local authorities were after the Enzyte company owners ass. I'll have to look it up.

I don't see any problem with the Paris Hilton commercial, but that's not saying that I particularly like it or anything.

The clip that played right after the Paris Hilton commercial was a lot more interesting though..."When bus drivers attack" (worth a look)

(talk shows and analysts) "Yes, this commercial is way too innapropiate for tv...blah blah blah.... now coming up, Sports Ilustrated Top Swimsuit Model Search is next, followed by Fear Factor, where you can watch people eat bugs and sheep balls to try to win money."

i dont have that much of a problem with the commercial, just where they air it. Dont show it on Nickelodean or Disney, and youll be fine. What "kids" (that arent mature enough to watch the commercial) are watching those other channels?

It is. But the guy's just an idiot, and the enhanced sexuality claims are subtle. That commercial doesn't bother me at all. But perhaps the product really does nothing for anybody, and that's why they're after them.
