Parcells retires from Cowboys

I knew Parcells would leave. He is getting old and how much of TO could he take after only 1 year. The fact that he leaves a talented team with high expectations for next year is true. We shall see how good the new coach coming in will be.

Pete Carroll the next coach for the Cowboys...

Hummm...that would be great for the college football world and USC (I am saying this because I hate SC, HAHA!). Double Bonus: USC would fall from a CF powerhouse and it would be a huge + for the Cowboys (who have a very talented team). Old Petey didn't want to go to Miami because he would have to rebuild from the ground up but in Dallas he would come in with a good foundation already established (Parcells).

Some may disagree with me on this but don't be suprised to see Dallas in the Super Bowl next year. I am only saying this due to the fact that Parcells left a very good team. Look at some of the other teams that won championships taking over for a departing coach's teams i.e. Larry Coker (Miami), etc.

Why? What's holding Pete there? Explain to me why you don't see it brother. Money is nothing to Jerry Jones. He will pay a ton for him.

Well, consider that he's in a great spot, sure, J.J. will pay a ton but the guy is a Rock Star here in SoCal. Everytime a coaching position opens there's rumors around Petey but he would be a fool to leave.

So far this year, I have heard he was going to Miami, and San Diego so I guess it just makes sense that the next logical rumor would be Dallas.

Petey is making near NFL money, has (probably) the best coaching gig in CFB and doesn't have to deal with millionaire primadonnas. Plus he's already tried the NFL and was marginally successful at best. I also don't see it.

I agree he has it made, however I doubt his contract will stack up with the upcoming NFL deals. $8 million a year is being thrown around if/when Cowher decides to return. Will SC shell out that kind of money? As stated above, Jones certainly doesn't mind a bidding war.

Well he did open the door with the Miami interview saying at some point he would like to try another run at the NFL. However, he's also said he likes staying in SoCal, and he loves USC and has no plans to leave. So at some point one of the above statements will be a lie.

The Dallas job is a tough gig too, with everything that's going on, TO, new stadium and all that, there's a ton of pressure. When we set up our Dallas office I found out just how much that state is into football. Hell, the airport alone is pretty much a shrine to the Cowboys.

So if he's looking for a challenge there's tons of them there.

I guess it's the best NFL job available this year, but if I was Pete, I would wait til I could come into a better position, something where the expectations aren't that high yet you have the talent to do great things.

Yeah, but is $8 mil worth having fucking T.O. on your hands? I don't know...:)

When TO is winning and having fun and is getting the ball and not complaining it seemed like Parcells and TO were having a "good time". Like the time when Parcells turned TO's hat sideways. They have their moments, but very rarely:)
