Pac10 vs. Big10 Head 2 Head 2008

Absolutely, especially when you consider that the Mountain West owns the PAC 10 this year--4-0 this weekend. I don't see how anyone can think that the PAC-10 is strong. It's been USC at the top for years. This year, there doesn't appear to be any team even close out there.

So the MWC>Pac10>Big10?

MWC vs. Pac10 4-0
Pac10 vs. Big10 3-1

Dude, you're not really helping defend the big 10 at all....

And that's the rub. When looking at conference strength, it usually boils down to the competition. The SEC is highly respected not just for it's big january wins, but because of the depth of great teams that can emerge. Sometimes this is oversold, but there are always at least 2-3 programs capable of hoisting the NC each year. It's surprising when the pac-10 fields a second team, like Oregon. The other 'not SC' team might get as high as a BCS bowl berth, but they are rarely NC material.

Just to point this out before this all gets out of hand. I never said the Pac 10 was better than anyone. I simply predicted the outcome of 4 games - that's it. I will admit the Pac-10 looks really bad after this past weekend.

Oregon would have probably been in the NC game last year if Dixon didn't go down. Oregon in the NC game and USC in the Rose Bowl. I think those would have been two pretty damn good teams in BCS bowls.

By the way, we are in week 3 of the season. A lot can happen through the rest of the year.

Georgia did not impress me at all. I think they could have a tough time at ASU this weekend.

I totally agree with you. ASU just had a major choke job against UNLV because our offensive coordinator is mentally handicapped. Even if ASU doesn't win, I think they give Georgia all they can handle. Georgia has looked beatable.

I agree completely, but that was more of the exception to the norm. Cal and Oregon in earlier years clamored for respect, but did not back it up in bowls.

Really, outside of 05, the b10 has not had 2 NC contenders either for awhile.

Just to add to this, do you know how frustrating it is being an ASU fan and losing almost ALL great recruits to USC? Almost every Pac10 team loses all of their home grown talent to USC. The other 9 teams usually get the left overs.

tOSU fans probably won't understand that because you guys are the USC of the midwest and steal everyone else's recruits.

I'm missing something here.

'05 - PSU and tOSU in final BCS standings top 4 before the bowls
'06 - tOSU and TSUN in final BCS standings top 3 before the bowls

I have to apply the same metric. California was right in there ranking-wise, complaining about disrespect, only to lay an egg against a lower-tier team in their bowl. Michigan didn't prove they were a worthy NC contender that year.
