Ozzie Guillen vs. Jay Mariotti

Not to settle at just Jay Mariotti (or Sean Penn), Ozzie has now decided to take on all of SoFla.

Did the ownership group seriously not know what would happen when they hired Ozzie Guillen?

Ozzie Guillen to return to Miami

PHILADELPHIA -- Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen, facing criticism over comments published last week in which he expressed admiration for Fidel Castro, says he intends to fly back to Miami to answer in person for his statements about the Cuban leader.

Guillen, speaking in the Marlins' dugout before their afternoon game against the Philadelphia Phillies, said he felt "guilty" and "embarrassed" and wants to address questions personally. He planned to return to Miami after Monday's game and speak at a 10:30 a.m. ET news conference on Tuesday at Marlins Park.

Cont'd ...

Suspended five games. Will explain his remarks today in a press conference. I'm sure it will sound like this:

Are we saying he's an idiot because he publicly expressed his love for a cruel and brutal dictator? Or because he actually does love a cruel and brutal dictator?

I would say he's an idiot for walking into Miami, with its new stadium in Little Havana with construction funding supported by Cuban-descended County Commissioners and built to appeal to a huge Cuban immigrant fan base, and touching the one topic you don't touch in Miami before the end of the first weekend series.

It's gotta rank right up there with Marge Schott's "Hitler was good in the beginning ..."
