Outage evening of 10/3/11 -- DDoS on our provider

Clarity

As the subject line indicates, Hurricane Electric (our network provider) has been suffering a massive DDoS attack today, and this evening it actually managed to bring them down for a little while. They're working on mitigating the attack, and/or at some point it may simply end, so if you can't get through here and there this evening, that would be why.

Here's HE Twitter feed in case anyone is curious and they post more info there. The important bit is the problem isn't on BP's end, and isn't on your end. That's good news insofar as actual professionals are working on it.

It's highly likely we'll come and go while they work on it. HE posted (although it seems to have since disappeared) that their engineers are doing "everything possible" and that there's no ETA for a complete fix. So hang in there folks, going to be a bumpy ride for the rest of the evening. Please return your trays to the upright positions, finish off your drinks, and enjoy the movie as best you can.

Ahhh, that would explain all the slow ups and "Page not found" errors I've been getting tonight. Does HE host any usual "target" sites, or is this just random bad luck?
It's very big, so it wouldn't be surprising to run into related issues on other sites.

I haven't heard any word (yet) about who or what was targeted. It's not us, we're just collateral damage.
