Out-Of-State Players to Watch

Highly Regarded 2017 DE Loves Ohio State Visit
2017 defensive end Luiji Vilain who attends Pearson High in Ontario, Canada, visited Ohio State today. It was the second time Vilain has been to Ohio State, but the first time specifically for a football visit.

“I really liked it a lot,” Vilain said. “I really like the facilities and all the stuff Ohio State can offer. I think the thing I liked best was the new addition to the locker room. But I really liked all the facilities.”

Kerry Coombs is recruiting Vilain for the Buckeyes, but his potential position coach if he ended up at Ohio State, defensive line coach Larry Johnson, played host today.

“I met coach Coombs two years when he started recruiting me,” Vilain said. “I talked to coach Johnson today. I met him at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp. He showed us around [today]. I really like coach Johnson.”

Vilain, who is now up to 6-foot-4 and 240-pounds, plays defensive end for a club team in Canada because his high school doesn’t have football.

But even without playing high school football, some recruiters have seen enough. Vilain already has scholarship offers from Penn State, Syracuse, Minnesota, Rutgers and South Florida.

However, Vilain is highly interested in Ohio State even without an offer from the Buckeyes.

“Ohio State, Michigan State and Michigan, those are the three offers I really want to get,” Vilain said.

Vilain was joined at Ohio State today by Alexandria (Va.) Episcopal cornerback Patrice Rene and his 2017 teammate, wide receiver Jonathan Sutherland. Those two are also originally from Canada.

Vilain is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports rankings. He is the country’s No. 66 overall 2017 prospect, the No. 2 weak-side defensive and, and the No. 8 prospect in Canada.

Notebook: Stars gather at SoFla HS Media Day
Daniel Wright, a four-star athlete in the class of 2017, says that Florida State still holds a slight lead in his recruitment. Wright recently visited LSU, however, and says the Tigers are closing the gap. As of now, LSU trails the Seminoles slightly but Wright reserves the right to switch up his pecking order in the near future. Wright says that he hopes to visit Ohio State sometime after his upcoming junior season but has not worked out any particulars of such a trip.

2017 QB out of Daytona Beach Mainland HS, Denzel Houston, is a player to keep an eye on. Threw for 34 TDs as a sophomore last year. Mainland will visit Lakewood, Ohio to face St. Eds on October 10th of this year.

The school is ranked in the top 15 nationally this year is loaded with talent and has made the state playoffs 20 straight years. They also face Ocean City, New Jersey in Daytona this year. Add in Dr. Phillps in Orlando and you have a ridiculous schedule.
