Our At large NCAA Regional Resume....

rhgbosu

I aim to misbehave
Honestly, its not much to look at...

RPI 74

Record vs. RPI Teams
1-50....... 0 - 3
51-100.... 1 - 4
101-200.. 22 - 8
201+...... 9 - 2

1-7 vs the top 100 and 31-10 vs 101 + wont play well with the selection commitee.

If we sweep State Penn and lose in the finals of the Big 10 tourney, we may get the "snow bid" that the NCAA apparently gives out from time to time.

IMO, "snow bids" are really more of a myth created by southern baseball fans who think the NCAA hates the SEC and the south...really, I'm not making that up.:tibor:

According to people here(alabama), the NCAA is always conspiring to bring down the SEC in every sport, and the "snow bids" given in college baseball are just another way for the NCAA to stick it to the south.

On the other hand, some folks here in alabama think snow bids are given to help build inetrest in college baseball "up nawth"...this one makes a little more sense to me.

Michigan was labeled a snow bid last year, but managed to preform pretty well...could we be the snow bid of 2006??

Not likely, if the myth of the "snow bid" is indeed true, it will most likely go to UConn, St Johns, Missouri State, Evansville or maybe even Kent(if they dont get the MAC Auto).. All those teams have a better resume than us at this point. You can add scUM to this group if they do not win the Big 10 automatic bid.

Lets just hope we can win the tourney ,so we dont have to worry about all this kinda crap

Wow. You'd think with the season start being so early and the advantage that goes with it they'd shut up. Oh well.

We were talking about our weak RPI earlier in the season. Getting swept by those blue bastards didn't help. Gotta win the tourney, I'm afraid.

Losing two of three at home to a really mediocre Minnesota team didn't help either. Gotta beat Pitt tomorrow and take at least three of four from PSU this weekend to even give us a chance at a snow bid in case we don't win the tourney...

Losing to Cleveland State is really a killer as well. Plus the fact that we basically lose two games (one to Minn. and one to the Jap. team) makes winning the tournament a must to get to the NCAA tournament. The key for the Bucks right now is to shoot for 2nd place so we get that first round bye. No matter what happens, I expect the Bucks to win the tournament.

If you're talking about Aoyama Gakuen who beat us in the fourth or fifth game of the season down in Florida, if I remember correctly AG is a perennial powerhouse in Japan. They didn't beat our ass because we sucked...they beat our ass because they're a very good team.

I realize they are very good, but that game does not count in the standings or towards the RPI. However, the game does count toward the 56 games the Bucks are allowed to play. We could have played another team that would have counted for both is all I am saying.

You are right......you just threw a little gas on the fire

:pissed:

What really hurts us is the fact that we play a bunch of crap teams
in March every year. I wish we scheduled like the Lady bucks softball team ...they will play anybody..anywhere.

Until we beef up our schedule, we will never get an at large. That goes for the entire Big ten..other than Purdue and scUM the rest of our leagues March schedules were a joke.
