What are your thoughts on the Penn State / Ohio State game?

Beano Cook: (3:10 PM ET ) This is one of the biggest games of the weekend. You have to remember that since PSU joined the Big Ten it is 7-15 against Michgian and OSU, including six stragiht losses against Michigan and six straight losses in Columbus against OSU. One reason PSU is not winning the way it used to is because the officials are no longer shafting the visiting team as they did in 1982 aganist Nebraska. People will tell you the officials in the Penn State games were the most biased of any in the '80s. That was the kind of stuff that cost them part of the national title in 1994. It was payback by the coaches.

So 12 years later, coaches who weren't even coaches before (much less played and got screwed in Happy Valley) still held a bias and didn't vote the Nits for the title in 94. I will be the first to say they got screwed that year, but Beano is full of shit.

As was evidenced by Michigan at the Shithouse this year, officiating shouldn't be anywhere near the problem with replay. I'm not worried about the refs...they don't call penalties consistently, but they can't shaft a team, one way or another, anymore like they used to with obvious calls.

EDIT: And Beano is always full of shit. He's just pissed now because he predicted Penn State would win at least 7 games for like the last 5 years, and they made him look like a jackwipe.

beano is full of s*it?

more beano:

Beano Cook: (3:16 PM ET ) A Penn State example: PSU beat Notre Dame in 1983, 34-31, in a game that was as tough as any I have ever seen and there was not a single penalty called against Penn State. That's the kind of monkey business I'm talking about. You think that would happen in the Michigan-Ohio State game. But Michigan doesn't feel like that was the case in 2001 at Michigan State, when one second took 10 seconds.

Before ND played UM, Beano Cook proclaimed that if ND won in AA, that they would go undefeated and beat USC, and be in the title game.

Decide how intelligent that statement is (especially given that UM was not viewed as unbeatable at taht point, just talented)... and then decide how reliable a guy named Beano is.

So they played one whole game without a penalty and that means something? Christ, the service academies hardly ever get penalties called on them...is it bias, or discipline?

One game doesn't mean squat. Beano is a bitter Pitt Butterballfu-- who doesn't know anything anymore, if he ever did.

Not after Ron Pawlus didn't win at least 3 Heismans.

That has to go down as the single stupidest thing ever said about college football, and he was so excited when he said it he rocked himself to sleep right there on the floor of the interview room.

good to see they have others who can help burden the conspiracy load at espn... friend's shoulders were getting a little sore

Penn State stopped losing titles because they stopped playing pansies every year. Same story with Miami.

Don't know if you heard Beano on Cowherd, he picked PSU 31 Bucks 14...
Cowherd about fell out of his chair and said he couldn't believe Penn State would score 31 yet alone win!:oh:
ahh, poor beano. who let him leave the nursing home?

he expects that penn state's offense is going to be more potent than texas' offense? give me a break. i don't care if the game is held in happy valley or the death valley... penn state's offense will score no more than two touchdowns against osu's defense. i'd put the penn state OFFENSIVE touchdown over/under at 1.5.

Evidently with that presentation of the score-line he feels Penn State is the one playing on the road.

Beano Cook is one of those perfect reverse indicators.

Whatever he says about the future, bet against it.
