Another reason to be disappointed about the players and coaches who give tOSU a black eye. I'm starting to wish these guys fail at the next level and I sure won't root for them.
Give me a break please.

So hoping someone fails isn't rooting against them?

I get what Best is saying..I mean it takes the fun out of bashing "Real" scUMbags from other schools when our guys get in trouble or screw up.

Even more so when you consider a kid could steal a car from most schools and it would be third page news..but if a Buckeye jaywalks well then we need a federal probe started right away.

That being said..I always root for my Buckeyes..hell I don't even bother watching games during the NFL season if a Buckeye isn't on the roster.:gobucks3::gobucks4:

It isn't about being vindictive or being a choirboy, or being mature enogh to abstain long enough from weed to fool (lie to) the Nfl or even about if it only "hurts" himself.
It's about being held to a higher level by the fans and tOSU as a representative of the same.
Adams's smoking dope doesn't strike me as exhibiting worse behavior than many posters have in excoriating him. Mike Adams may have owed Buckeye fans something while on scholarship (that's debatable IMO), but that time has passed.

As for "embarrassing" Ohio State, I have to say that if we are embarrassed by the fact that many of our students smoke weed, we have a long and embarrassed life ahead. I don't excuse or support it, but it's a fact of life. And it happens everywhere, including Ivies and service academies.

We posters are not in a position to embarrass tOSU with newsmaking items.
No one who watches or plays or is a fan of another program is going to say "Oh MaxBuck smoked dope the night before the NFL. TOSU is a law breaking school". No Scum fan is going to criticize any poster for doing weed. But they are going to laugh and make remarks and declare they are the far better school if any player or ex player is caught.
Adams and everyother player who attends school here will forever be linked to tOSU.
Adams is the only one we are talking about now who screws up, not any fan or any poster.
Anyone who wants to can give Adams or any other player a meek slap on the wrist and say aww too bad Mike now go out and represent the university.

You guys go right ahead poo poo it if you want to but I expect kids who play for the Bucks to be held to the higher standards set by the university.

NFL: Adams? draft stock faces mixed market

Most draft observers say that Ohio State offensive lineman Mike Adams is an intriguing blend of talent and question marks.

Two days before the start of the 2012 NFL draft, Mike Adams? status remains clouded.

There is no doubt that the towering tackle is considered the only Ohio State player worthy of being taken in the first round on Thursday night. But he also might have to wait until rounds two and three are staged Friday night to gain that coveted call.

The easy explanation would be to blame the revelation that Adams tested positive for marijuana use during a drug test at the NFL scouting combine in February. Couple that with his part in the tattoo-parlor scandal which brought an NCAA investigation down on Ohio State and forced long suspensions for several players at the start of last season ? including five games for Adams ? and it would add to the question marks.

But Gil Brandt, the original player personnel chief for the Dallas Cowboys who for years has served as a senior analyst for NFL.com, downplayed the impact of the drug test, which teams have been privy to and for which Adams has offered explanations and gained counseling.

?I don?t think it?s going to hurt him as much as you might think, but it?s not good and it probably knocks him down a little bit,? Brandt said yesterday. ?But in my many, many, many years, I have never seen a player who people have had so many different opinions of.

?The scouts say to look at the Nebraska game last year, and the guy plays lights out. They say to look at the Purdue game, and he?s not very good. Then there are some who think he?s the best tackle in the draft, and others who think he?s a third-rounder.?

OSU's Adams an enigma for teams
Tackle tagged as a 'boom or bust' pick
BY DAVID BRIGGS
BLADE SPORTS WRITER

COLUMBUS --There is little debate over which Ohio State football player will be nabbed first in the NFL draft this week.

Mike Adams looks the part, possessing the size --6-foot-7, 325 pounds --and agility of a cornerstone left tackle.

"Adams is a guy with enormous athletic ability and talent," ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper, Jr., said during a conference call. "He looks like a top-10 pick, a top-15 pick."

NFL personnel, however, will judge Adams by more than his cover.

As the three-day draft begins today, the enigmatic lineman's fate will be among the most-followed storylines.

Kiper said Adams comes with a "boom or bust tag," a former All-Big Ten player with both immense talent and baggage.

The Dublin native failed a drug test at the NFL combine in Indianapolis, according to a NFL Network report last week, the latest in a line of issues that have raised questions about his commitment.
