OT Josh “Jimmy” Simmons (National Champion)

True, but it seems like he's going to go in the top half of the 1st round. I just never saw him as that type of player

This year feels like about 10-12 guys are going to go in the top half of the draft because somebody has to.

I don't follow it all that much anymore but it seems like a weak draft class, not just at QB.

He was on his way to being that player. He was playing his best ball before the injury. And he was still getting better. Very athletic, strong, and would probably test well.
He seemed to make a big leap this season before the injury, should have enough film and as you said test well to at least make him a first round selection. Not sure if he will be top-15, but it will be nice to have at least one OL in the first round (likely two with Jackson). Shame he sustained that injury but it may have worked out well for him and Jackson since he shifted to LT and improved his draft stock.

Despite season-ending injury, Ohio State football player will be a first-round pick

This Ohio State football player will likely still be a first-round pick even though he had a season-ending injury.

The Ohio State football team likely won't have as many first-round picks as they normally do. Their national championship-winning team was loaded with talent but not with as much top-end talent as their teams normally are. Yet, they had 15 players invited to the NFL Combine.

At most, they will have two first-round picks. Emeka Egbuka is one of those picks. The Buckeye wide receiver has a shot to be taken at the end of the first round. He showed that he can be a really good player at the next level, even if he's not the team's number-one guy right away.

he other first-round pick that the Buckeyes will have is one of the offensive linemen that they lost for the season. They lost both their left tackle and their center and still went on to win a national title. That's how good this team was. Josh Simmons was the player who suffered an injury at the left tackle spot.

Simmons suffered a knee injury in the first matchup against Oregon that cost him the rest of his season. He was Ohio State's best offensive lineman at the time, so having him go down was a major setback. Yet, he is still likely going to be a first-round pick.

He is ahead of schedule when it comes to the recovery from that knee injury. Teams really liked what he showed on film in the first half of the season. His improvement from last year was truly stunning. He went from being a guy with a lot of physical traits who was inconsistent to being one of the best tackles in the country.

Isn’t there some hyped up guy every year who ends up sitting in the green room all alone at the end of the first evening of the draft? Beats me who it will be this year, but this top 3, top 10 noise sure sounds familiar.
