Wow, so impressive, Oklahoma beat Oregon without their star quarterback. Oklahoma is probably so good they could beat Texas without Vince Young. Give me a break. If Clemens plays, Oregon scores 30+ and wins by 2 touchdowns.
Didn't Clemons get drafted by the Jets, hence he's not playing in this game either. Won't NGata's absence create more room for Peterson. I would guess that OU will beat Texas w/o Young this year.

I was talking about the Holiday Bowl. I'm just trash talking. Oklahoma has a good shot at beating Oregon but Oregon is extremely loud, especially for big games. The scUM game in 2003 was FUCKING loud. I had to put it in bold because that's how loud it was. No doubt Oregon has lots of holes to fill but the homefield advantage is really going to help.

Just so you're not sounding like our friend UTMNC from the Texas thread. I'm fine with that. I would say that is going to be a pretty good game. The good thing about OU is that Bomar is about as dumb as box of rocks. At least that's what the students there have been saying. But clearly drinking underage and being higly recognizable at a Hornets game isn't too bright either. Just so you know I am clearly not an OU fan but living in OKC makes me have to deal with those psychos on a daily basis.

Don't worry about West Virginia... I have no faith in this "there schedule is so easy, they'll no doubt be undefeated" bullshit. Year in, year out, the "easy schedule" teams drop a game or two. Hell, Purdue was supposed to win the Big Ten last year owing to dodging OSU and Michigan.... Didn't happen.. far from it. I'd bet dollars to donuts WVU isn't still standing come 2007. (And this is said despite the fact that Rodriguez is, in my mind, an underrated coach)

bkb,

WVU has a very good team to go along with a favorable schedule... If there are only two "major conference" undefeated teams, I'd be surprised if WVU wasn't one of them... if there are three undefeated teams, then I would think WVU would get bumped for the "better" undefeated team.

WVU has talent, and a good coach... I think they would win the Big Easy even if VT, Cryami, and BC were all in the league

I agree, gbear (Well, I don't know that they're good enough to win the old Big least, but it's not an outlandish remark you make):
That was 1998 (1999 Sugar)

The other aspect about an undefeated WVY program is that they won't be ranked higher than any other "major" undefeated. If they are 1 of 3 undefeateds, I'd bet about anything, they don't make the big show.

They play home and home. I am sure everyone should remember the cocktail party in Jacksonville though. Georgia Florida.

Hence the second part of my post about it being more traditional these days.

Prior to '89 the game was always played in Birmingham.

Edit:

yeah the iron bowl is home and home now, but it was played in a "neutral" site for a very long time, Birmingham I believe.

Fudge, beaten to the punch.
