Diebs is on fire. If the crystal ball predictions are remotely accurate on Rivals and the rankings hold true, we're looking at some recruiting runs like when Matta first got here. Guess I need to pop over to this forum more often, I truly believe in Diebler for his coaching ability and developing talent, so if his recruiting is elite then our winters are going to be way more enjoyable.

Appears so far that tOSU has got some talent under the hoop. Paired with the existing shooters, augers well. D is still an unknown (to me at least), seemingly with tOSU outscoring the other team rather than shutting them down. Need some of the underclassmen to be able to handle the ball, as this is Thorton's swan song year. Also make the critical points when needed. Success breeds success, and the recent 5* commit might turn the heads of the other players out there, making them think - what does he see that we don't. Gotta get in the Dance, and go further than first or second round exit. Go Bucks!

Watched tOSU v Northwestern. Got kinda confused, thought Tilly was the #5, with Noel as the #4. Great combo under the boards. But Tilly must still be injured (?), because Noel played at the #5, and did well. Guess, tOSU went small, because the other big, Croatian(?), stayed on the pine, and Devin seemed to be hanging down low. Didn't see Taisman in at all. And that Diebs had shortened his bench for conference games. Am I missing something, or what?

Tilly is a finesse player and I think that hurt them vs pitt so they might have been just trying somthing different

Watched Illinois game last night, and positions were reversed. Didn't pay attention to fouls, but Tilly got the bulk of the minutes...Devin reprised his role as rebounder, and was skying against the taller (!) Illini. Thought the Buckeyes had a chance, but those cats were nailing 3's like the devil was sitting on their shoulders. Illinois has always (in my memory) fielded teams that always had alot of tall timber. Seemed that all the Buckeyes were about 6-8" shorter. Can see why they've been in the Dance, what, 8 years in a row? Anyway, that was NOT a good match-up for the Buckeyes, but they gave it a heckuva whirl. Oh yeah, Diebler, get our guys to spend some time on free throws. The ultimate scoring difference was made from the charity line. And they're called 'free throws' for a reason.

You know where apathy starts? Recruiting guys who don't play with maximum effort and guys that aren't physically big, strong, tough and athletic enough to compete. This is the #1 area where OSU basketball recruiting needs to change, and until it does, we're not going to see another team with the defensive chops to contend for a B1G championship. To really turn the program around, the primary focus should not be offensive skillset, the primary focus should be finding guys with the motor to go along with the size and athletic ability to compete in the B1G. 3/4 of the battle in winning a college basketball game is controlling the glass, making more foul shots than your opponent & winning the turnover battle, and if you do all those things you can win a lot of games even if your team isn't the greatest at shooting the ball. These are things that Izzo has made a Hall of Fame career based on, and yet somehow other college coaches all seem to think they need to try and audition for NBA jobs rather than build programs that compete at the highest levels in college. If OSU ever wants to turn the program around and gain a larger fan following, the first step is go back to getting guys like Aaron Craft, David Lighty, Jae'Sean Tate & Je'Kel Foster on the team.
