Ohio State's Department of Athletics will be recognized as winner of a Diversity in Athletics Award June 11 in Dallas.The Ohio State Department of Athletics is accustomed to on-field success. In June it will be recognized for its off-field efforts as well.

OSU has been awarded with the Diversity in Athletics Award in the category of Overall Excellence in Diversity. The award will be presented June 11 in Dallas, site of the 2008 National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Convention.

"It is an honor for us to be recognized by our peers in college athletics by this award," said Tom McGinnis, assistant athletics director for Administration and Human Resources. "Our department, and the University as a whole, recognize the importance of diversity as a component of education and the development of Ohio State's students, faculty and staff."

The award will be accepted by Gene Smith, Director of Athletics, at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. Smith is also a candidate for the 2007-2008 Athletics Director of the Year award by Sports Business Journal.
