original wendy's to close

I still remember when the Wendy's franchise came to Cambridge. My favorite order to this day: double cheese all the way, hold the lettuce, tomato, and mayo; large fries; and a coke. They sure were juicy. Er, greasy.

If I'm not mistaken, I have a cousin who buys beef for them.

I don't know how you can possibly eat a burger without Lettuce, tomato and mayo. You're missing all the good stuff....

Considering the fact that that Wendy's is only a block or two from Capital Law School, I would've thought they'd get more business. Then again, it is enough of a walk from many of the downtown buildings that it's probably too much of a pain for most of those who work downtown.

That being said, I've eaten there, and it's pretty cool--the first Wendy's with all that memorabilia. Too bad it's closing.

You'd figure there'd be a way for them to get designated as an "active historical site" or something, so even if the close it down business-wise, they can keep it open for historical purposes. People are weird...they won't go there to get a burger, but designate it as a state historical site and folks will go there to check it out.

Way I look at it, lettuce and tomato are for salads. Of course so are onions and mushrooms, but those are my two favorite toppings along with cheese.

Never understood mayo on a burger. Doable, but not preferable.

They said on the news last night that part of the reason for closing is, they have no drive thru, only 8 parking spaces, and when COSI moved in 1999 it really killed their sales.

Anyone else think Wendys is terrible now? They changed their oil several months ago and the fries are awful and have an odd aroma. Anything that is fried there tastes (and smells) like crap to me.

I don't eat a ton of FF, but Wendys went from my favorite FF to a place I avoid.
