Organization to the Buckeye Forum?

What about implementing a rule asking posters to stop posting articles? Or better yet, just have one running thread where people can put that stuff? I know 21 and 3yards post most of the articles everyday anyways...I'm not sure what a good solution is. I personally am not a fan of all the individual player threads, simply because (as mentioned above) anything new gets buried in the thread. I like our old style of starting new threads about developments, topics, whatever (even if there were repeats and duplicates)....now it seems like anything that is remotely connected to a player gets thrown into the player's thread, and there is no indication from the main page that anything significant or new has happened. To me, something like Frost's suspension should have had its own thread...but that's just me, and I will submit to the admin's, since they send me my vpay...

I like the articles...I want to know every detail about what is happening and what is being said.

As far as individual threads, I definitely like those. I don't understand how someone does not click on the Marcel Frost thread if it suddenly spends 24 solid hours in the Most Recent list. Also, clicking New Posts shows when threads have been updated...when there is something new, why wouldn't someone click it?

I am a creature of habit though...I like the current setup.

My beef is that sometimes the news gets lost because it never gets its own headline within the forum. I don't read every single player thread, in large part because I don't really care about all the fluff articles and the "breaking news" about how much somebody can bench press. It took me a while to find out Marcel Frost had been suspended, because all I saw was that his thread was getting new posts. Sure, I could've checked the thread, but doing that, I'd say I get 10 bench press articles for every real news item I find. I wish that more often, the titles of thread reflected the current discussion contained within them.
I have no problem with a "breaking news" article receiving its own thread, so long as it is merged with the "official thread" once the news is no longer breaking. The "official threads" were designed to avoid the BN-style "free for all" posting, where the same topic gets brought up simultaneously in a half-dozen threads. Ultimately, the goal is to have "archive threads", which will be redacted versions of "official threads", with all of the less relevant posts removed and only the "important" news and commentary remaining; for example, the Ted Ginn official thread would be reduced from 200+ pages to a dozen or so, which will make it much easier to find important news about him. The "official thread" would remain, so that no posts will be lost, but the archive thread would be an easy-to-navigate summary of the player's career.

EDIT: 'I have no problem with a "breaking news" article receiving its own thread, so long as it is merged with the "official thread" once the news is no longer breaking.' Obviously, this puts more burden on the mods to manage the forum, so it is ultimately their call....

I know this doesn't pertain to the Buckeye forum but is there a way to consolidate all of the Happy Birthday threads in the Open Discussion forum?
If we have to discuss our favorite gas station & weed-eaters, I think the bday threads are fair game (especially to include some of the less-addicted posters).
