Oregon vs. Boise State...in China?

Looks like a long way to go before anything's final. I don't really see the benefit of doing this either.

The University of Oregon football team is working on its longest road trip ever: to China.

Oregon officials are exploring the possibility of playing Boise State there in 2009. It would be the first major college football game in China.

Oregon's budding plans reflect U.S. sports leagues' growing interest in a nation with 1.3 billion potential fans, and bolster the Ducks' reputation as national trendsetters.

"Quite honestly, it's very Oregon," said Jeff Hawkins, UO director of football operations. "You like to be on the edge. You like to be first."

This idea is really intriguing. I wonder if the two schools would play their first game in China and perhaps do their preseason work there, too. The players would get the study abroad experience, albeit without much input in the destination. Plus, without many (if any) of the players knowing the language, there wouldn't be much else for them to do but focus on football.

Dumbest idea ever. They have absolutely nothing to gain from going to a communist country to play college football. Sucks to be a fan of either one of these schools for this game. What would a ticket cost? $3000.00 and a trip to a Chinese holding cell prior to gametime.:roll2:

I believe moving this game out of the country (or just to a neutral site) is being discussed out of necessity, as any possible combination of Oregon's and Boise State's amazing TechniColor uniforms against the backdrop of either teams' home field would cause a rift in the space-time continuum, or at the very least have all of us fucking around with the brightness and contrast settings on our TVs, while precipitating a world wide Internet and tele-communications collapse when legions of college football fans collectively call their cable and satellite TV providers screaming, "WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!"
