Oregon State 19, Arizona 17, FINAL

+1...

Rooting for us to end up in the Crapital One Bowl means you don't care about the dollars...Big Ten gets an automatic $16M for Penn State in the Rose Bowl and an additional $4.5M if Ohio State gets an at-large bid.

We had Penn State and couldn't finish them...that's on us, but it doesn't mean I am not the HUGEST DUCK FAN next weekend.
If you are so worried about money, we should have lost to Illinois, so they could be bowl elegible and get the Big Ten more money. I dunno how many fans really care about bowl money. I'm not one of them. WE BEAT MICHIGAN TODAY AND ALL SOME OF YOU CAN DO IS WORRY ABOUT OREGON STATE AND THE BCS!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd love to play in the "Capitol One Bowl and hopefully finally beat an SEC team.

Frankly, the Big 10 does not deserve 2 BCS teams. If they get 2 in, it just shows how big of a joke the system is.

You are entitled to your opinion. I will agree that the SEC and Big XII certainly deserve their 2 over the Big Ten. But the ACC and Big East deserve 1 COMBINED.

No way Oregon State deserves to be in...

The money is less important to me than being able to watch a decent game when I'm hung over on New Years day

The BCS bowls are the big driver...the other bowls barely move the needle. Not to mention the BCS bowls have twice the cache of the Capital One Bowl...the lower tier bowls (Citrus/Cotton, etc) have been heavily marginalized by the BCS.

Look dude, I am not complaining...I am thrilled with the bitch slapping we laid on scUM. I am thrilled with 4 straight Big Ten championships.

I would just like our seniors to go out in style in a BCS game.

So you are under the impression that some of us were worrying about Oregon State? Funniest thing I've heard all day. I bet there is not a Buckeye fan that is disappointed Oregon State won today, especially after the epic beatdown of the skunk bears today. Here's the thought process (at least for me): As a fan of Ohio State I want them to go to the best bowl possible... a BCS bowl is still a possibility. If the cards fall so that the best bowl OSU goes to is the Capital One Bowl against a good SEC team then that is great.

If Oregon State would have lost it would have been an "icing on the cake" result... like Ntre Ame losing to Syracuse.

Beating Michigan kept us alive for the BCS. Why does it bother you so much that some of us would prefer to play in a more prestigious bowl game, with more exposure for our program?

It's not as if beating Michigan AND rooting for a better bowl are mutually exclusive. :roll1:

You don't need to apologize for paying attention to other things going on in the world of college football.

Exactly. Yeah, we should have beaten PSU to assure us a spot, but that doesn't mean I don't want to go to the best damn bowl period...percieved as deserved or not. Fuck that. Making it to 4 straight BCS Bowls is a big deal. JT making it to 6 BCS Bowls in 8 years is a big deal.

Eh, not apologizing, just expressing my thought process. If one wants to insist that they would rather see a crappy rematch of oOSU-PSU instead of seeing OSU in a BCS bowl then more power to them. I'm sure most of those same people were very excited when our Buckeyes "backed into" the NC game last year.

I'll make a note to alert you of the Oregon-Oregon St. game next week so you can watch another wonderful game.

No argument here. I think SC v. PSU is a lot more interesting, and if that's the Rose, there's a shot OSU gets to play in the BCS as well, so that's 2 good things, far as I'm concerned. That said, I doubt PSU crushes oOSU the next time.

Yep... rematches are very tough and it seems like the team that lost the first game wins the second game many times. Plus PSU is a different team away from Crappy Valley. The only teams they dominated on the road were Syracuse and Wisconsin (which had its will broken the week before by Pryor and just about lost to a FCS team today).

I just think it would be nice to see sombody BESIDES USC win the Pac-10. Personally i'd rather play the SEC, probably Georgia, then a random BCS team. We haven't been to the Citrius Bowl in a long time. It's a great New Year's Day bowl. Rooting for teams to lose to go to the NCG is totally different. The NCG and the Rose Bowl are head and shoulders above all other bowls. But I just don't see the big difference as a fan when it comes to the Fiesta Bowl vs. the Citrius Bowl. I mean...going to 4 straight BCS games would be a great thing, don't get me wrong. But the fact is that we would get there at this point because of something Oregon State didn't do, and not because of something we did. Now if it were the NCG or the Rose Bowl...then hell yeah, i'll take that any way I can get it, cuz those two bowl games are VERY special. But, at least to me, the difference between Fiesta and Citrius is very small. There is nothing wrong with the Buckeyes getting more exposure. I hope for only good things for the football program. And the bottom line there is that we need to win our bowl game, no matter what. I guess what got me is when people were saying they'd be pissed if we went to the Captial One Bowl. Like that's a bad thing. I'll be happy no matter what happens with Oregon State. It'd be fun to play in the Fiesta Bowl against Texas or Oklahoma. But it would also be fun to play against Georgia. And if you think about it...Oregon State winning out might be better for the Big Ten. A PSU/OrSt matchup and tOSU/UGA matchup could be two winnable games for the Big Ten. Where as if Oregon State loses, and then it becomes PSU/USC and tOSU/Texas...those games seem less winnable. Who knows if it would be Texas or Oklahoma, or whoever, but playing them would definitely be fun. No doubt about it. So would playing Georgia. I think playing either would be equally as fun. Nothing to get my panties in a twist about. I'm glad we beat Michigan by 35 points...that's fun. I'm glad we are going to a bowl game at all, cuz there is one 3-9 team that I know of that isn't.

Bottom line. We win our bowl game, it's a great season. If we lose our bowl game, then the season just won't have that same shine. 10 wins, co-Big Ten Championship, beatdown of crappy Michigan...those are all great things. But we haven't beaten a real good team this year...so i'd like that to happen. Let's just hope something crazy doesn't happen and we end up playing Cincy.
