Offering a contrarian viewpoint - I think an OSU/Boise State (or Bama/Boise NC) has far reaching implications.
Win and win big and you end any arguments of Mid Majors getting a shot ever again. They can still play in BCS games - but no shot at Crystal Footballs. You'd be the hero and envy of every team in a BCS conference and Colin Cowherd would love you forever.
Lose and the roadmap for a playoff is in place. The OSU/Boise Game goes down in history as a game that lead the way to what every fan wants - a playoff! It would be the most important loss in history!

No, it really didn't. The prevailing wisdom was that OSU was hopelessly overrated in 06 and 07, yet none of that diminished those NCs, not even the ugliest NC season in BCS history by the mad hatter.

Not to quibble, but Ohio State was not regarded as hopelessly overrated in 2006. In fact, they were regarded as a juggernaut for the whole season. It was only after losing 41-14 that people came to the conclusion that the Buckeyes must not have been that good.jwinslow;1778507; said:
