You do not want that game Jake. If you win, people go "Meh!", if you lose, you get shit for years.

You want to beat Bama...

I agree. I said if Bama somehow goes down...

Boise is almost a no win affair, but I'd rather play them in the NC game than not play in it. Obviously, a loss would be brutal, but kicking their asses would be a pleasure.

Offering a contrarian viewpoint - I think an OSU/Boise State (or Bama/Boise NC) has far reaching implications.

Win and win big and you end any arguments of Mid Majors getting a shot ever again. They can still play in BCS games - but no shot at Crystal Footballs. You'd be the hero and envy of every team in a BCS conference and Colin Cowherd would love you forever.

Lose and the roadmap for a playoff is in place. The OSU/Boise Game goes down in history as a game that lead the way to what every fan wants - a playoff! It would be the most important loss in history!

Win a close one and both sides argue even louder.

Tressel wins a lot of close ones.

Winning the MNC two years later - and losing only one game to the eventual National Champion the next year may have had something to do with that......but you know how I see things through the orange and blue specs.

No, it really didn't. The prevailing wisdom was that OSU was hopelessly overrated in 06 and 07, yet none of that diminished those NCs, not even the ugliest NC season in BCS history by the mad hatter.

it was as logical as the whole overrated chant itself.

Not to quibble, but Ohio State was not regarded as hopelessly overrated in 2006. In fact, they were regarded as a juggernaut for the whole season. It was only after losing 41-14 that people came to the conclusion that the Buckeyes must not have been that good.

There's a significant difference between a majority and 'every' fan. :wink2:

That's how I remember it too.

So posting a cartoon that makes Josh's point helps yours how exactly?

You've got the championship, congratulations. But clinging to some ridiculous notion that it went down in some way other than what everyone here knows to be reality is just silly. It's a championship. Enjoy it already.

[insert cartoon - posted on BP by BP poster that shows contemporaneous perception of the two teams with tOSU as powerful juggernaut]

Dammit! C'mon Daddy, that cartoon was absolutely appropriate to the narrow point in the discussion. It refuted Josh's point, not made it - and agreed with BKB and Woody that the 06 squad was very highly regarded by virtually everybody prior to the game.

Highly regarded prior to the game = overrated

But in case you think I missed the point
