  • When OSU announced that they were going to upgrade their schedule, this week was what they had in mind. Both Georgia Tech and Oregon are players in the race for the CWS. They aren't on the level of Texas, LSU or USC, but they are better than most Big Ten schools.

    That said, I hope they get some of these games in - it has been very rainy in Cbus this week.

    Man what a tough weekend. No shame at all in losing to Oregon especially with how our pitching staff performed but Lord Almighty do we need to get the bats going!

    Id kill to see OSU play at LSU in baseball. I have always liked LSU's baseball program. From the jerseys (Im a proud Reynoldsburg Baseball alum and we are also purple and gold) to Warren Morris' walkoff they are always fun to watch.

    OSU swept by Oregon

    Game 1

    The Buckeyes threatened against Oregon starter Tommy Thorpe in the bottom of the second. Pat Porter and Jacob Bosiokovic singled to lead off the frame but Troy Kuhn popped up a sacrifice bunt attempt, Greg Solomon followed with a foul out to left and Thorpe got Wetzel to strike out to end the inning.

    Oregon then got on the board against Ohio State starter Brad Goldberg in the top of the fourth. Brett Thomas singled off the back of Goldberg to lead off the inning and a throwing error by Goldberg on a sacrifice bunt attempt by Aaron Payne put runners at the corners with nobody out. Ryon Healy followed by grounding into a double play but Thomas scored to put the Ducks up 1-0.

    Game 2
    The Ducks took the early lead in the nightcap off Ohio State starter Brian King. Payne singled to right with one down, stole second and came around on a two-out RBI single to center by Tolman for the 1-0 lead. Oregon tacked on two more in the third when J.J. Altobelli tripled to right to lead off the inning and scored on an RBI single by Thomas. With two down and Thomas on third, Tolman lined a single to right to plate Thomas and push the Oregon lead to 3-0.
    The Buckeyes threatened in the bottom of the third against Oregon starter Cole Irvin, putting runners at the corners with nobody out after Wetzel doubled and Hallberg reached on an error. However, Ciamacco popped into a double play on a bunt attempt and Cypret flew out to right to end the inning.

    Game 3

    COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State baseball team dropped its series finale against No. 6 Oregon, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium .With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 33-18 while the Ducks improve to 40-11.
    After Jaron Long tossed a scoreless top of the first for Ohio State, the Buckeyes threatened against Oregon starter Jake Reed in the bottom of the inning. Reed walked Joe Ciamacco and Ryan Cypret to lead off the game and a fielder's choice by Kirby Pellant put runners at the corners with one out. However, the Buckeyes tried a double-steal attempt that was foiled as Pellant was thrown out between first and second and Ciamacco was caught trying to come home to end the inning.
    Oregon then got on the board in the top of the fourth. With one down, Mitchell Tolman and Tyler Baumgartner notched back-to-back singles but Long uncorked a pair of wild pitches as Tolman came around to score to give the Ducks a 1-0 lead.
