Game Thread Oregon at tOSU, Sat. Nov. 7th, 3:30 pm ET, CBS

Thanks for doing me the solid of a film review, I deleted it on my DVR because I couldn't bear to watch that again. I vividly recall most of it from one watch though.

A completely different team has to show up Saturday and that's the bottom line I think.

Yep. They have to at minimum play a clean game penalty wise. If they have 10+ penalties again they are more than likely losing

I agree that is what it will take, I am highly dubious as to the chances of them all of a sudden playing clean football. The three headed monster of penalties, turnovers and bad filed position are what this team does. The chances of some kind of switch flipping/180 degree turnaround clean game are slim.

Reality
-Penalty yards per game: 54.4- 61st
-Giveaways per game: 1.1 -41st
-Net field position 28th

and the real killer is red zone efficiency (or lack thereof)
-RZ scoring percentage (TD and FG) 86.5% -54th

Just a pile of mediocrity and likely too much to overcome consistently. Maybe they can beat Oregon because Oregon has a whole list of issues of their own but overall- this isn't looking good.

I’m for not substituting when we get in the red zone. You’ve got a defense that’s somewhat worn out since we got this far, and they’re probably not set up to stuff the run on the goal line. If you’ve got 3 wideouts when you get to the 5 yard line, keep them on the field and then decide whether you want to throw to JJ if he’s not bracketed or run it if the box isn’t jammed up.

If you’ve got 2 TEs and got this far keep them and use them for shoving QB sneaks if you only need a yard.

But quit trying to outsmart the opposing DC by shifting personnel, which allows them to matchup and get a brief rest.

Then you watch the Steelers (who did this last year too) line up in goal line as tight of a formation as you can, direct snap to a TE under center with another one next to him in the backfield to push...all while Rogers just stands back there and watches.

I think we can get in as 9-3 as bigten champs. Obviously that's leaving some to chance, but besides UCLA no one is all that great. Indiana lost, then had to go to OT against shit teams to win. They slip we can lose again.
No we can’t lose another game in the big ten or IU gets in. Maybe 9–3 and we lose the big ten. Alabama went that route last year and that’s the only plausible way we make the playoffs provided IU doesn’t lose again.

Will have to win out in the regular season.

If we win the B1G CG we are in.

We won’t (likely) be in that game with more than the two losses we already have.

So saying I think we can get in as a 3 loss champ is just kind of off. We either win out and win the B1G or we get that third loss and are never in the B1G CG.

IU isn’t losing again. Not sure UCLA will with that schedule.

I think Indiana gets beat by USC. Their QB situation is as bad, or worse than OSUs. Will they lose to Washington? Unlikely. They will hammer Purdue as they are just horrible this year.
