Oregon 37, Oregon State 33 (final)

Interesting tidbit.

Ducks celebrate Civil War win; Rose Bowl foe Ohio State awaits | The Ducks Beat - OregonLive.com

Masoli's pass to Dickson was high and tipped, winding up in the hands of OSU cornerback James Dockery. Oregon State drove down and stalled at Oregon's 1. On fourth down, Jacquizz Rodgers ran it in -- a powerful statement that the Beavers were not going to play like 10-point underdogs.

Was that score worth more than seven points? In the teams' previous 22 games of 2009, the team that scored first won 21 of them. OSU had that going for it, and some of the Ducks' faithful were sitting on their hands on the decidedly un-Pasadena-like night.

Regarding Blount:

Civil War: Blount returns, helps get a rose for girlfriend, son | The Ducks Beat - OregonLive.com

...
"This is unbelievable to be able to contribute to the team's win," Blount said. "I've been waiting for a long time to get back in there, and I've been doing everything Coach (Chip) Kelly wanted me to do to get back on the field. Everything that I've worked for ... has finally paid off."

Blount was reinstated Nov. 9 but didn't play in Oregon's victories over Arizona State and Arizona. Though his body language at times suggested he was frustrated to not play, he said the wait was worth it.

"They never tell you who they're going to play," Blount said. "They're just going to put in whoever they feel like is going to get the job done. So I just waited. ... This means everything to me. This feeling, I can't describe how I'm feeling right now. I'm kind of at a loss for words."

Blount expressed respect for Kelly and the decision he made and said he would have understood if he had stayed on the practice scout team for the rest of the season.

"Coach Kelly just did what he felt like he had to do," Blount said. "I respect his decision. I mean, I was wrong for what I did."

cont.

There are a lot of opinions on the playing of Blount last night by my colleagues. I've had a number of Beaver fans that are so pissed that they refuse to root for Oregon against the Buckeyes.

I agree.

I just have a hard time making fun of a team that managed to beat both the teams OSU lost to this year. They gave up 2 more points to USC and 10 more to Purdue than OSU's defense did.

As a matter of fact their national defensive rankings aren't that bad at all;
Scoring D 44th
Total D 27th
Pass eff D 18th
run D 40

Not the 85 Bears but they play in an offense oriented conference so on the surface its not as bad as people are making it out to be.

If it is Oregon in the Rose Bowl they should be favored.
Another thing you have to keep in mind is that they're a quick striking team so opposing offenses are going to have more possessions their defense is going to be on the field more which contributes to tiring. Still, they couldn't stop Stanford and Arizona got them good too. They're a tough team to gauge. The only thing that matters is that they win games just as the Buckeyes do. It should be a good game.

Anyone notice the large knee brace Masoli was sporting? He was hurt in the Wash State game and out for a bit. He didn't look quite as explosive running last night. And they used James mostly to run the ball. I think he has a MCL tear and it's very sore. 10 rushes for 40 yards.
